Garden in Bloom-Fix it Friday

I really liked this layout with the colors of black white and red.  So, I thought to myself it might be fun to make a card using a lot of these same components.

I made my pieces of Go Wild designer paper pack smaller and mounted them on Sahara Sand card stock.
I used the large flower from the Garden in Bloom stamp set for the focal flower and stamped the flower again on a scrap of Go Wild for the center of the flower.
If I would need a saying I would stamp it in the middle, but some cards can be blank and your message be the focus on the inside.
Come back Monday for my next video.  I call the technique Double Thinlit.  I will feature Thinlits and the stamp set Bloomin' Love.  Have a great weekend which I hope includes some stamping

All the variations on Garden in Bloom...6 cards from one stamp set.

Garden in Bloom Template Thursday

I went straight to the annual catalog for my template for today.  Here is what I will focus on for my samples.

Designer Paper-English Garden
Stamp set of the week Garden in Bloom
Ribbon
And a Saying

For this sample I turned the card  90 degrees.  Can you see all the parts of the sample.
I used 2 strips of English Garden designer paper instead of just one
I used the small flower and leaf from Garden in bloom
The bow was my ribbon focus
The saying was just one word from the saying in the Garden in Bloom stamp I used in the card above.

Instead of a stamp set from Garden in Bloom, I used a piece of English Garden that showed off some lovely blue flowers.
The ribbon was just a strip added onto the designer paper strip.
This time I cut the saying apart and attached it to the ribbon.

I hope this showed you how you can take a simple layout and change it up by changing the position the colors of cardstock and the accent pieces.

Come back tomorrow to see how I fixed a scrapbook layout and changed it into a card.

Garden in Bloom- Wednesday Wow

Don't you love a stamp set that has so many images each time you create a card it looks like it could be a different stamp set.  Today, I decided to use some of the images as background paper.  The bees and the small flower worked instead of designer paper.  For the final Wow I cut out the butterfly images and made it look like they were attached to a flower.  I thought the 3 way border punch added the final WOW to the card.

Come back tomorrow to see how I used the same template to create several different cards.

Garden in Bloom-Rolling Reinkers

Have you ever used reinkers in creating your card?  Today's card using Garden in Bloom uses the technique called Rolling Reinkers.  You can make the flower image in the stamp set look different by using different colors or different technques.

1. Stamp the image on Shimmery White card stock using Versa Mark ink.

2. Emboss using a dark color.  I used Black embossing powder.

3. Put a very small amount of the reinkers you choose in a small container.  I used Blushing Bride and Blackberry Bliss.

4. Spray the stamped and embossed images with water so that water rests on the paper.

5. Take an Aqua painter and dip the tip into the reinker and then touch the edge of the water.  The ink should float all over the wet area.  I used the Blushing Bride first because I wanted it to spread all over each petal.  I then touched the outer edge of each petal with Blackberry Bliss to make an accent color.

This technique is so much fun to use with all kinds of color combinations.  Your stamped image needs several different sections that are connected for this to work the best.

Come back tomorrow to see a WOW card made with the Garden in Bloom stamp set.

Garden in Bloom Miscellaneous Monday

The retired stamp set list is out!  I was thrilled to find out that Garden in Bloom will be around another year.  So, this week I am going to show you 5 different ways you can use this set.
Today is just an ordinary layout, stamp, saying, and some Wink of Stella to glimmer up the flower and butterflies.
Come back tomorrow to see a technique that will use other images from this set and give off a totally different look.

Fix it Friday, On Stage Swap

I loved this card for its colors, the flower, and the layout.  Well, the stamp was a sale a bration stamp which I do not use any more since they are no longer available.  I had over estimated how many of this card people would make and had about 20 pieces left over.  I decided this would make a great swap for On Stage, but needed a new flower.

I wanted a flower that could be layered and would look good on this same layout.  I found Garden in Bloom and think it met my criteria.  I hope to get some really neat swaps when I trade this card for some new ones.

Have a great weekend.  I know I will because I will be learning and having fun in Salt Lake City.  Come back Monday to see what Miscellaneous item I will blog about.

Template Thursday-Same design different cards

I love simple.  This card was one of the 10 stampers got to choose from at my Spring Card Buffet.  Here is what I would call the template for this card.

Designer paper -Birthday Bouquet
Ribbon-Mellow Moss
Saying-Sassy Salutations
Accent piece-Bold Butterfly

Knowing that it would be easy to make more cards using this template, I set to work creating. See if you can see how I changed each one of the elements with the next 2 cards.

I chose a black and white color scheme and a card that could be used for kids.

Designer paper-Go Wild
Ribbon- Black
Saying-No Bones About It
Accent piece No Bones About it

I changed directions for this card and separated the designer paper to be able to use 3 designs and made a bow with the ribbon.

Designer Paper- Botanical Gardens
Ribbon-Black
Saying-Happy Happenings
Accent Piece-Botanical Builder

This was fun and I could keep on going.  Try this and see what you come up with.

When you read this, I will have registered and be in the middle of the On Stage event.  I might even have my own copy of the new annual catalog in my hands!!!!

Come back tomorrow and check out how I fixed a card I made with a Sale a Bration set to one that features a current stamp set and saying.

Wednesday Wow-Neutral Colors

Do you find yourself drawn to a certain card and wonder why?  I loved this card when I found it on Pinterest and thought about why I was attracted to it.

1. The neutral colors made the rose element pop.

2. The layout was simple not a lot to distract me from the main element.

3. The thinlit of the rose and how it allowed the designer paper to show.

I think you could put a lot of sayings on this card and have it work for many occasions. What would you use this card for?

As you are reading this blog entry, I am in an airplane flying to Salt Lake City for the latest OnStage event.  Excited.....Yes, I am.

Come back tomorrow to see a card layout that changes depending on color and layout.

Technique Tuesday- Create a Sunburst video

I lowered the focal point and used the Go Wild designer paper stack here.

I had a great time making a variety of cards using the Sunburst technique.  Check out the video below that gives you step by step instructions.

I used several of the patterns from the Pretty Petals designer paper stack to make this card.

I chose just two of the patterns from the Cherry on Top designer paper stack.

Which card is your favorite?  Come back tomorrow to see the WOW card from my recent Spring Card Buffet.

Miscellaneous Monday-Scrapbook Your Life for March

I love the look of black and white.  And for a scrapbook page any picture would look good with black and white.  I decided a little bit of red and dark pink would make a great accent piece to this layout.

Cindy said she was going to put some pictures of her black and white cat on this layout.  Wonder what I can find to put there?

Come back tomorrow to check out my latest you tube video demonstrating the Sunburst Technique.

Fix it Friday-Remake a card

I loved this Easter card and new that I could use it in several classes.  I made a stack of supplies.  Well, then when Easter came I knew I had cut way too many card supplies.  What to do?  I changed it up in time for my Last Chance Sale a Bration class.

1. I kept the doilies, the washi tape, the white banner, and the layout the same.

2. I changed the lamb for a flower and the saying for Happy Birthday.  Now, I can use this card in my classes after Easter.

Have a wonderful weekend.  Come back on Monday for a new video and some new stamping ideas.  Happy Stamping!
