Sale a Bration Week-Fix it Friday

For this card I used one of the stamps in the set called Designer Tee.  For the background I used some of the designer paper from the pack called Party Animal.  It was bright and added to the fun card.

The last card uses the designer paper that can be found in the Sale a Bration brochure called Carried Away.  This paper coordinates with a bundle called Lift Me Up.

I hope you have enjoyed viewing the cards I featured from the Sale a Bartion booklet.  Today is the last day to make a $50 order and receive one of these items free.  If you are interested you can place an order using the shop area at the top of the page.

Come back next week to see some cards made from the Easter Message stamp set.

Have a great weekend,

Sale a Bration Week-Template Thursday

I have used the Inside the Lines designer paper to make this card.  Instead of coloring in the design, I decided to leave it plain and make this a black and white card.  I layered a piece of vellum over the designer paper and added a bee ontop to create a 3-D effect.

For this card I used the spotlight technique to highlight a portion of the paper.

1. I punched out a 1 1/2 inch circle from the background of the card.

2. I colored in the items on the circle using the new water color pencils.

3. I attached a 1 3/4 inch black circle on the back of the colored circle and placed it back on the card in the original spot.  This is highlighting one part of the card stock.

Come back tomorrow to see two more cards that use designer paper.

Sale a Bration Week- Wednesday WOW

This first Wow card is made using the Make a Medallion stamp set and the Bermuda Bay glimmer paper.  Anything that glimmers is a wow in my book. The stamp set was so easy to use for two reasons.

1. The stamps are photo polymer and there fore very easy to use.

2. The stamps are made to overlap each other creating a layered image.

Love it.

In this card I used some Silver Foil paper which made it a Wow for me.  Any time I can used one of the foil papers it steps up my card.  It was very hard to photograph the foil paper because it reflected the light so much.  The bottom strip of paper is foil and the small star that is clipped onto the big star is foil.

I used the images from the stamp set called Tasty Trucks and embossed them in white on the large star.

Come back tomorrow to see how I used the inside the lines designer paper in two different ways.

Sale A Bration week-Technique Tuesday

I found this technique on Pinterest from a card made by B. J. Peters.

1. First stamp the image from the stamp set called Reverse Words, in Crushed Curry.
2. Next sponge some Melon Mambo over the Crushed Curry.  Red plus Yellow equals orange.
3. Finally, sponge some Bermuda Bay over the Crushed Curry. Blue plus yellow equals green.

Love this technique.  I am going to have to try it on some other large image stamps.

The technique I used for this card was...

1. Stamp all the lace images from the stamp set called Delicate Details on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.

2. Use the Bold Butterfly thinlit ontop of the stamped images to make a lace butterfly.

Come back tomorrow to see some Wow cards made with the set called Make a Medallion and the Tasty Truck stamp sets.

Sale a Bration week-Miscelleous Monday

This week I am going to feature cards made with Sale a Bration items.  This is the last week that you earn and of these items with a $50 order.

This card is made with the set called So Very Much.  I love the big thank you and the stylized writing.  I always wish my cursive writing looked like this.

I will be featuring two cards each day.  This stamp set, called Hey Chick, seemed to be the favorite of anyone that ordered from me.  I love the cute little egg.

Come back tomorrow to see 2 cards I used special techniques on when I made the cards.

So in Love-Fix it Friday

Reminder of the pieces I used for Tuesday's Technique card.  On Tuesday I spritzed over the pieces.  Here is what I did for one of today's cards.

I took a sponge dauber and sponged over the cut out section of the thinlits.  Some of the ink went over the edges so I did a little trimming to get this look.

When I saw the thinlits and how they looked after spritzing and sponging I thought they might look good on a card.  So waste not want not this is what I came up with.

This set has really cute thinlits and some sayings that are written in a stylish script.  I have had a lot of fun playing with So in Love this week.  I hope you have gotten some inspiration from my cards.

And if anything you are stamping with comes up missing, don't forget to check under your laptop.

So in Love-Template Thursday

So can you see what is new in this card?

This card uses the new Falling Petals embossing folder as its background.  Embossing folders make great backgrounds don't they.

Do you recognize the ribbon?  It is one of the free offers from the Sale a Bration catalog that ends on March 31.  I was not sure I would like the ribbon until I got my hands on it.  It is soft and has a subtle metallic look to it.

A second way to change the background of any card is to use designer paper.

This designer paper is called Falling in Love and goes well with the So in Love bundle.  The colors are soft and soothing.  This paper reminds me of the Bokeh technique.  I will have to feature that in a card soon.

Finally just using cardstock that contrasts colors is a quick and fast way like you see in this card.

I used Blushing Bride and Soft Suede cardstock as the background and Crumb Cake for the accent piece.  I was so glad to find my missing thinlit so that I could finish making this card.

Come back tomorrow to see what else I did with the thinlits I used on Tuesday's Technique card. I try to never waste anything when I am making cards.

So in Love-Wednesday Wow

Can you guess why this is a Wow card for me?

1. Black and White with a spot of color

2. Embossing in white

3. The card uses my favorite thinlit from the set........that happens to be the missing thinlit that was finally found.

Come back tomorrow to see how to change up the background of some simple cards.

So in Love-Technique Tuesday

Can you guess how I made this card?

1.  I cut out 2 of the thinlit images.

2. I placed them on the card stock, top and bottom.

3. I filled a spritzer with rubbing alcohol and Melon Mambo ink refill and spritzed away.

It was fun and easy.

Come back tomorrow to see a wow card I made using this bundle.

A little Leprechan Magic-So in Love

Last week I was busy prepping my blog cards when all of a sudden a very important thinlit was missing. I searched the trash and everywhere I could think of and could not find it anywhere.  It naturally impeded my progress for my blog posts.

Today, I decided on one last attempt as I had every day since the thinlit went missing and decided to lift up my lap top which always stays in one place.  And there it was.  I prefer to think that a leprechaun hid it from me, rather than me having a very senior moment.  But the lost was found and I am therefore ready for a So in Love week.

The thinlits that go along with this stamp set are the real selling point for me.  They are delicate and make a simple card easy.  I used the Precision Base plate which make cutting this detailed image so very easy.

Come back tomorrow to see a technique card I made using this same thinlit.

Beautiful You-Fix it Friday

I love the color combinations of this card, Emerald Envy and Sweet Sugarplum.  These are two of the current in colors in the annual catalog.  I am glad they will be around for another year.  Each set of 5 in-colors are around for two years, and then the disappear. So, I plan to use the colors that will be disappearing in May quite a bit in the next couple of months.

What could I do to fix this card which to me looks great just the way it is?  I thought I could use everything the same, but change it from a card to something else.

First I used the Mini Treat bag to make what could be a gift card holder.

  What was the same?

I used the same figure
I used the same colors
I used the same Emerald Envy solid Baker's Twine.
I used the same designer paper called Festive Birthday.

What did I fix?

I changed the saying to Celebrate
I cut the image out in a diamond shape.
I used markers instead of a blender pen to add the color.

For my final project I used the Gift Bag punch board to make a bag instead of a card.

What did I keep the same?

I kept the same image
I kept the same colors.
I kept the same designer paper.

I colored the image using markers again.

What did I fix?

I added Tempting Turquoise card stock
I cut out the image
I changed the saying to Happy Birthday
I added Sweet Sugarplum ruched ribbon.

This has been a fun week.  I love this set and how versatile it can be.

Come back next week to see what I can do with the So in Love bundle.

Beautiful You-Template Thursday

For my template this Thursday I have changed the background for each card and changed the image.  I did not put any sayings on these cards because I like to have blank cards that I can personalize for any situation.

Card Number 1 uses the washi tape that coordinates with the Pop of Pink designer paper.  I love using washi tape on cards and find it so easy to use.  Tear, place on the card, tear again.  I never use scissors.

Card number 2 uses one of the papers from the Serene Scenery paper stack.  These papers are 6 by 6 and come with 48 in a pack. I love how much fun the ones in the Serene Scenery stack are to use.  Several of them are photos of nature.

Card number 3 uses a stamped image as the background.  This image can also fit on top of the lady with the hat stamp and eliminate the need to color in the image.  A very casual artsy look.

As you can imagine I could keep going with changing my backgrounds.  Maybe use an embossing folder, creating a word background.  Why don't you try making a card using one of these background techniques.

Come back tomorrow to see how I take a simple card and turn it into a gift card holder and a simple box.

Beautiful You-Wednesday Wow

Have you seen all the beautiful cards that are being made with this set?  I have been inspired by quite a few.  I chose this card as my wow card for these reasons.

1. The background paper called Falling in Love has such a 3-d look to it.

2. The stamped image on top of the designer paper increases the 3-D look.

3. The additions of doilies, ribbon and the cute Falling in Love embellishments added to the wow factor of the card.

A wow card for me does not have to have lots of layers, detailed stamping and laying.  It has to catch my eye and make me say "Wow I really like this card."

Come back tomorrow to see how I used one simple layout to make 3 simple cards.

Beautiful You- Miscellaneous Monday and Technique Tuesday

Beautiful You is a very versatile stamp set.  There are 3 images and 8 sayings.  This week I want to show you many ways to use this set.  Monday's card shows

a stamped image
a stamped saying
Some color using our new water color pencils
Some sprinkles in the background made by tapping an aqua painter or marker on your finger
The ground made by brushing color along the bottom edge of the card.

The technique for this week is called Paper Piecing.  It is simple and involves just two steps.

1. Stamp your chosen image on a piece of cardstock.

2. Stamp the same image on a piece of designer paper.

3. Cut out the hat and the dress from the designer paper, and glue them onto the same parts of the cardstock image.  You now have paper pieced a dress and hat onto the original design adding a bit of color.

Notice the stamped lace image.  That is one of the free stamp sets you can order from the Sale a Bration catalog.  It is called Delicate Details and can be used in so many ways.  In this card it just finishes off the card in a feminine way.

Sale a Bration continues through the end of March.  So, check out your wish list and find $50 worth of items and you can have Delicate Details as your free stamp set.

Come back tomorrow to see a WOW card made with the Beautiful You stamp set.

Lift Me Up-Fix it Friday

There are balloons, and clouds and tiny little stamps with matching thinlits and sayings.  For my cards today I am showing how to attach the little accent pieces to the balloon with a matching saying.

First card I have attached the heart on top of the basket of the balloon.  And conveniently there is a saying that matches.  To add to the sentiment of the card, I embossed the background using the new Falling Petals embossing folder.

I always need Thank You notes and this card is perfect.  The Thank You attaches to the basked on the bottom of the balloon and the saying says it all.

The final card for today uses another piece of the Carried Away designer paper as the background.  The note is once again attached to the basket of the balloon.  And the matching saying completes the card.  As I was making the cards for today, I was thinking of other things that could be attached to the balloon basket.

A saying that is stretched out behind the basket
Some flowers in the basket, maybe from the set called Sprinkles of life
An Animal like the bear in the set called Always an Adventure.

Have fun thinking of some ideas of your own and try this simple way to make use of this cute and versatile stamp set.

Come back Monday to see what I can create using the stamp set from the Occasions catalog called Beautiful You.  I will try and combine it with some of the items from the Sale a Bration catalog.

Lift Me Up-Template Thursday

Isn't this balloon thinlit striking when used all by itself?  Today I am going to show you how to keep the card pretty much same.  The only change I will make will be the saying and the background.

For this card I chose to use the Carried Away designer paper free as a Sale a Bration item when your order totals $50. I thought the saying matched the background paper.

For card number 2 I used progressively bigger strips of card stock as the background.  Once it was assembled, I placed the entire card from in the Softly Falling embossing folder.  For the saying I chose the birthday saying.  You can never have enough birthday cards...Right.

This time I used a piece of water color paper and my aqua painter.  I painted Marina Mist and Night of Navy ink over the paper.  When it was dry I added some white clouds.  I like how they show through the balloon.  I cut up the saying so that it would fit in my empty space.

The final card used an old technique I had forgotten about.  First I embossed the designer paper with the Woodland embossing folder.  Then I used some light sand paper and gently rubbed it over the designer paper.  Since the core of designer paper is white the white was displayed in the raised area of the image.

I hope you can see how easy it is to get a different look from your cards but just changing one simple thing; the background of your card.

Come back tomorrow to see how to use all the elements in this stamp set in another simple way.

Lift Me Up-Wednesday Wow

Can you figure out how the background of this card was made?  If you read my blog post from yesterday it was made using the Watercolor on Embossing folder technique.

What do I think is WOW about this card?

1. The background technique.

2. The colors behind the balloon.  Easy to do since there are thinlits for 5 different shapes that fit behind the balloon.

3. The intricate design of the balloon itself.

Come back tomorrow to see what the balloon looks like when you vary the background.
