Template Thursday-January Paper Pumpkin

I chose the Freshly Made Sketch for this week to be my template.

Can  you see how I interpreted the sketch.

1. Instead of the circle I used a heart from the January Paper Pumpkin kit.

2. The two background strips were papers from the Love Blossoms designer paper stack from the Occasions catalog.

3. I used one of the sayings from the January Paper Pumpkin kit punched it out and used the scalloped oval punch for a background.  I tied it all together using some linen thread.

I had forgotten how much fun it is to participate in a challenge.

Come back tomorrow to see how I fixed cards for the seniors at the Knollwood Retirement Village.

Wednesday WOW- Making my own Starburst

I had fun making a card using the Stampin'Up! Starburst thinlit, but wanted to try my hand at making my own.  This turned out to be a WOW for me.

1. Make a dot in the middle of your page.

2. Make lines with a ruler from one side of the paper to the other that go through the center dot. An even number of lines works best.

3. Punch or trace a circle and trace it over the center of the lines.  It does not have to be exact.

4. Cut out every other ray.  Now you have your own starburst.  What did I do with mine.

I used designer paper and cut each ray out of a different color. I had to number them so I would be able to keep the placement in the correct order.

I love my finished card.  It took a bit of time to place the rays but the end result was just the WOW I was looking for.  What do you think?  Maybe this would be a good choice for video number 2?

Technique Tuesday-Starburst Technique

The cold weather today makes me think of how much I love the warmth of the sun.  The technique for today uses the new Sunburst Thinlit die to make a card.  I used the thinlit 2 times to create the dual colored effect.
Come back tomorrow to see the WOW I created with the next thing I did with this awesome die.

Miscellaneous Monday-Paper Pumpkin ideas

Isn't this treat holder cute?  Well, I wanted to see if I could make cards from the January Paper Pumpkin kit supplies.  Here is what I came up with.....

Occasion designer paper, heart punch and a Sale a Bration stamp set make up this cute card.

The heart punch made cutouts for the Mint Macaron big heart to shine through.

Darcy brought the supplies and I made this cute card.

One of the hearts is behind the balloon cut out.

I used all the little scraps and created this cute card for any special occasion

It is great fun to make up the Paper Pumpkin kits the way they are designed, but also fun to find alternate ways to use the supplies.

Check back tomorrow for Technique Tuesday.

A new video, a new plan

I did it! I tackled something I have wanted to do for a long time and actually did it.  I created a youtube video.  Believe me when I tell you it took a long time and was totally out of my comfort zone.
Since I did the video and now have a youtube channel, I decided to rethink my week.  Here is what I have come up with.

I will be posting a blog entry on Monday through Friday.
Monday will be Miscellaneous Monday  where I will post what ever sounds like fun that day.
Tuesday will be Technique Tuesday.  I love to try new techniques and refresh my old techniques.
Wednesday will be a WOW.  Either something I never knew before or a really great project.
Thursday will be Template Thursday where I will create a card from one of the challenge sites that are out there.
Friday will be Fix it Friday where I will either make a card look different, or step a card up to make it go from simple to more difficult.
I will be taking Saturday and Sunday off.

Finally until I get more efficient with creating a video, the first Monday of every month I will post a new video, here and on my youtube channel.

SOMETHING HAPPENED AND THIS DID NOT GET POSTED ON SUNDAY AS PLANNED.

See you tomorrow for Miscellaneous Monday.
