Slider Card-Fancy Friday

  Are you one of those people that has a long to do list and then realize that there is no way you are going to get it completed.  Well, that is me to a T.  I am going to Ohio to attend a wedding shower and had a great list of what I wanted to accomplish.  Needless to say not everything got finished.

So, today instead of Fix it Friday I am posting a Fancy Friday card.  Lots of fun to make.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing the slider cards I made this week. I want to give a great big shout out to Rachel Zmolik who inspired me with her creations.  

I will be having a class in September I am calling Movers and Shakers.  Each person attending the class will receive Window Sheets, Sequins, and Foam Adhesive Strips and also make 6 cards-3 shaker cards and 3 slider cards.  Should be a fun class.  Look for more details next week.

I will not be back from Ohio until late Monday. So come back on Tuesday to see what stamp set I will feature next week.

Slider card-Template Thursday

Here is the basic template I am using this week.

I pictured the bee spinning around to get to the hive.

I wondered if the slide slanted downward if it would work, and I found that it did.  I thought of this as a falling star.  When I was looking for a saying to put on the card I thought it would be fun to use as a birthday card.

In case you are wondering about the background paper, it came from the By the Sea designer paper stack.  It is really supposed to resemble the sea, but I thought it could also be a cloudy sky. What do you think?

Slider Card-Wednesday Wow

  If one slider is good then two sliders must be great.  There is a hidden stop behind the layer so that the two snowflakes don't bump into each other.  I used Wisteria Wonder, and Elegant Eggplant as my colors.  The added rhinestones and Clear Wink of Stella glam the card up a bit.

Slider card-Technique Tuesday

   Here is today's slider card. Do you notice anything different from the card I posted yesterday?  You should notice that the groove for the slider to go on is in a different position.  This is called the rainbow position and the card I posted yesterday is in the smile position. I found it does not matter which position I put the slider in they slide equally as well.
  Now, you might wonder just exactly what makes this butterfly twirl. Here are the steps to take to make a slider.

1. The first thing to do is to cut out you sliding groove.

2. Then on the back you put the Foam Adhesive strips making sure they are not too close to the groove. I also put strips along the edges to help secure the cardstock in place.

3. Next prepare your layers on the item to slide.

     First layer is a penny or a washer with a dimensional place on it. Be sure and round the corners of the dimensional before placing it on the penny.

     Next layer is another penny with another dimensional on it.  Place these two pennies on top of each other.

     The final layer is the accent piece that will slide.  It should have the last dimensional placed in the center.

Slider Card-Miscellaneous Monday

    This week I am featuring another fun action card called a slider card.  I used the set in the new catalog called Shooting Star.  It also has some thinlits that help create the slide areas, and several of the accent pieces.  In this card the plane image swirls and slides on the cut out groove.  

   Are you curious how I made the background.  I used watercolor paper, my aqua painter, and 3 colors of blue ink.

1. Open your ink pad a little and squeeze the top and bottom together.

2. Open the ink pad all the way and you  should see a puddle of ink on the lid.

3. Make sure the tip of your aqua painter is wet, then touch it to a tiny bit of the ink on the lid.  Spread it over the water color paper squeezing out a little water to make the ink spread if it looks too dark or thick when you first apply the ink.

I used, Soft Sky, which I put down first, then Marina Mist, then Island Indigo.  The combination turned out just the way I wanted it.

  I added some Gold Wink of Stella on top of the stars and to accent the plane.
