Card Cafe Creations-Painted Harvest Bundle

Are you in love with this set yet?  It was the first one to get my attention when I opened the Holiday Catalog.  I have to say I keep seeing more great ways to use the stamp set.  In addition there is a wonderful leaf punch that punches out the leaf stamp. And finally the coordinating designer paper is my favorite in the Holiday catalog.

1. The stamp set is multi layered and has an unfinished look to the first layer.  That is intentional, but if it bothers you, you can re ink the stamp and rotate the stamp before stamping a second time.  The second layer creates a detailed petal.  The amazing thing about this stamp set is that you can use just one color, or two different colors to create the sun flower.

2. The leaf is also multi layered.  I find I am most successful if I stamp the detailed stamp first in a darker color.  Then when I stamp the solid stamp I have something to see that helps me place the second stamp better.

3. The punch is handy to punch out the leaves.  Be sure and stamp the image close to an edge of the card stock.  It makes the punching so much easier.

4. The designer paper coordinates with an awesome color combination.
Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Garden Green, Lemon-Lime Twist, Peekaboo Peach, Soft Sky, Tangerine Tango.
Wow some of these colors, I never would have put together, but they look great when you do.

Tomorrow I will show you a great technique I learned about at an event I went to in Champagne.

Scrapbook Week-Candy Cane Lane designer paper

This paper just made me smile when I saw it in the Holiday catalog.  So, I made cards and finally scrapbook pages out of the images. Here are the items I used from the Holiday catalog to make these 2 pages.

1. Real Red 3/4" stitched ribbon
2. Candy Cane Lane designer paper
3. Real Red 12 by 12" card stock

The tiny images were easy to cut out and the peppermints were punched out with my 1/2" punch.

Come back tomorrow to see a layout I made with the Festive Birthday designer paper.

Not Just a Spider Web Doily

I loved the look of these spider webs the first time I saw them in the Holiday catalog.  However Halloween lasts for such a short time but I still want to use the doilies. So I found a card like this one on Pinterest and featured it at my Thank You card buffet in October.

Background is Melon Mambo inked once stamped 4 times.  Each time is lighter and actually looks like a totally different color.

Going to hunt for some more ways to use these cute little webs.

Lighthearted Leaves-Fall card buffet

I was attracted to this stamp set when I opened up the Holiday catalog.  So, I was very happy when Robin had this card for us to make at her recent Everything Fall class.  Next time I use this set I want to stamp in black and color in the leaves.  You know that adults coloring is a new thing now, so I want to join in the new trend.

Merry Little Christmas card kit

Do you ever just want to make a card and not worry about designing it, or cutting out cardstock?  Well, SU now has kits that you can purchase.  This kit is called Merry Little Christmas and includes supplies to make 8 cards including the cute envelope liner. I did buy the saying stamp separately but loved the final look of the card.  My friend Julie showed on her blog how to turn the card into a birthday card.  Clever idea I would not  have thought of. Now, I need another set for some ready to mail birthday cards. What would you use as an alternate saying on this card ?

Thinlits leftovers-What to do/

After I made the cards I showed yesterday, I noticed the leftovers also showed each word in a different light.  So, I featured them in cards.  I tried to make the colors look about the same, but made sure what showed through the empty spaces would look good.

I liked the silver look of the Winter Frost designer paper and decided some silver glimmer paper would look good behind the merry.  Don't you just love the look of the new Frosted Finishes embellishments.

When I saw what was leftover after the love was cut out it looked rather odd, so I ran the word through and used the cut out loops as added features.  Now, at least it looks like the word love.
How would you have fun using the new Expressions thinlits and the leftover pieces?

Expression Thinlits Fun

Wow, the time has really flown by since I lasted posted.  I have just returned from a family reunion in Angola, Indiana.  What great times we had. It took me a while when I returned to get back into the stamping mode, but a meeting of the Jubilant Butterflies last night helped me get back in the groove.
I gave a brief demo on how to use the Expressions Thinlits in an easy and non-frustration manner.  Mary Fish has a tutorial you can access here that demos what I am talking about.

1. First if you have a magnetic platform your job will be so easy, otherwise a regular platform for a Big Shot will work just fine.

2. Layer in the following order cutting plate, cardstock or DSP, waxed paper, thinlit, second cutting plate.

3. Run through the Big Shot, then use a paper piercing tool to poke all holes and inside shapes out.

4. The cut out piece will come out so easy because of the waxed paper.  I tried several samples and they all worked out just fine.

I can't wait to make some more cards using these delicate phrases.  Come back tomorrow for a great hint on how to glue the phrases to your project.

Washi Tape Fun

I decided that one of my swaps for convention needed to be a Washi tape swap.  I love using the tape.  In just a short time I had 20 swaps made using the new Season of Style Washi tape that is featured in the Holiday Catalog.  I was able to preorder the tape and customers will be able to order it starting August 1.  Look for your catalog in the mail soon if you are one of my customers.

Now that I was inspired, I decided to use the new Witches Brew Washi tape also in the Holiday catalog to make a similar card.  I love using the same template to make several different cards.

Which card do you like the best?  I wonder what other Washi tape cards I can make using this same template?

Ready for 2012

StampinUp has a great calendar with plastic stand offered in the Holiday catalog.
The calendar has space to write down your special events for each month.  Well, I don't know about you but I need a book to write down my weekly and monthly events.  So, I found a great idea through Create with Connie and Mary to decorate each month with a special theme, and use that calendar as a place to check out the dates for the month.  I am having a class this Monday where you can decorate your calendar.  There are a couple more spaces if you are interested in attending.  Just call me, email me or text me and we'll talk. I am making several of these calendars as gifts to give friends and think they turned out to be quite cute.  Like I do  with a lot of my projects, I took some of the ideas from Connie and Mary and made them my own.  Thanks for the idea!
