Broadway Star scrapbook layout

 Friday already, and a rainy day to boot.  That means I can have plenty of time to stamp and scrap.  In fact the first Friday of every month, I join a group of friends for an evening of scrapbooking.  I have been working hard on getting my boxes of pictures onto my boxes of premade layouts like the ones I have shared with you this week.

The Paper Pumkin kit of the day is the Broadway Star.  It is bold and bright and coordinates with a designer paper called Broadway bound.

The first thing I do when I get a kit is make up at least one card for each of the designs they offer.  The one on the left looks like a great birthday card, and there are a number of candles offered so I could customize if for one of my grandchildren.  But not my husband who will be 84 on his next birthday.


The one on the right could be used for any kind of celebration, an award, a graduation, or for someone reaching a goal they have accomplished.  I will use it for the downline member with the highest sales of the month.

A video like this one comes every month from Stampin'Up! and has several helpful hints to make the creating a bit easier.

The next thing I do is try and create a scrapbook layout with the supplies from both the kits I receive.  This is the one I came up with. Can you find the added designer paper I added from the coordinating kit? (Hint: The balloon paper, and the gold and black paper.  You can see how well they coordinate with the kit papers.) I decided to make the layout kind of generic so that it could be used for any kind of celebration.  

The middle Hooray was made by cutting around the negative space left over from the solid Hooray.  The great thing about these words,are they are adhesive backed and therefore, so easy to place on a card or layout.

I decided to place some of the words from the stamp set, in the white space on this part of the page.  There were a lot of words I wanted to use, so I placed them on the block that comes with your first kit and used all of them together as a stamp.

It made it a lot easier than stamping each one separately and helped fill that empty space.

What a fun productive week I have had using the Paper Pumpkin kits that have been sitting around unused for several months.  I hope this week has helped you realize what fun Paper Pumpkin can be and how you can use your kit in many more ways than it is intended.

Blissful Blooms scrapbook layout

  When I saw the lovely flower arrangements on the cards for August, my mind started churning with ideas on how turn these cards into a scrapbook layout. These beautiful cards were very easy to duplicate as you can see in this video.

I remember the first kit that came out in 2013.  You received a block, a red rubber stamp set, and the materials to make 4 cards.  This most recent kit included materials to make 10 cards with some vellum leaves left over. 

Here are some things I did to create this layout.

1. I used the negative space as a stencil and sponged Old Olive ink in the spot that held the vellum leaves.

2. I cut the flower group from one card into a cluster for the left hand page.

3. I cut the second card front into 1 1/2 strips as accents to the white card stock on the right hand page.

4. Finally, I stamped the flower image that came in the kit and cut them out added them with some vellum leaves to the corners of the white card stock.

I am excited to share this layout with the stampers that come to my Scrapbook Your Life class.

I am ready for the cooler weather of fall.  It has been so hot this past week that I have not ventured out for my daily bike ride.  If the forecasted stays away then I should be able to get a ride in the next few days.

May Good Things Grow scrapbook layout

  Wasn't this a beautiful kit?  There were two designs of envelopes that held a card inside.  They would be hard to mail, but perfect on the front of a great gift for someone special. Check out how they were made in this video.

 I decided to take apart the envelopes and turn them into standard sized cards.

I still had lots of little pieces left over from cutting up the envelopes so was able to make a few more cards.

Finally, as a gift to celebrate the anniversary of Paper Pumpkin some wonderful wooden accent pieces were included.  Hmm, I decided to make even more cards with these cute accents.

So, I got at least 17 cards from a kit that was to make 8.  Now, for the scrapbook pages.

I used the envelopes to make pockets and inserted some card stock with an accent on top.  I pictured a special picture or journaling card being inserted in each pocket.

Such fun.  Now, I have to admit that I have a red box overload on a shelf in my stamping room.  I am sometime so busy with classes, when my kit comes, that I don't always get them made up on time.  Tomorrow, when you come back I will show you that I have actually made up the August kit and it is just September 4th.  Yeah Me!

You Are My Anchor scrapbook layout

  Did you know that not all the Paper Pumpkin kits are cards.  April's kit was a cute box that held 5 small gift card sized cards. 

 The kit had enough supplies to make up 4 of the boxes with 5 cards each.  I gave them away as hostess gifts for several different events I went to this summer. This video shows how easy it is to put the kit together.

I still have plenty of supplies left to make up some more small cards that I plan to use as thank you cards for people who order from me.

I like to actually order 2 complete kits so that I have enough supplies to make up scrapbook layouts with the second kit. This is the layout I made with the April kit. Even though the kit came out in April, I can see putting some summer pictures on these pages.  What would you put on the pages?

I used some of the twine, and some leftover pieces to make a couple of accent pieces.

And finally, I used the negative space from the anchor punch outs to make another accent piece.  I just sponged around the edges and mounted it on a cut up piece of box cover. Once again every little piece accounted for.  

The March paper pumpkin kit was my inspiration for several items that I will share with you tomorrow. I actually made 8 cards and 8 envelopes turn into over 16 cards, from just one kit, and a scrapbook page from the other.

Scrapbook Week-Lift Me Up

  If you guess Lift Me Up and the matching designer paper as the items I would feature today, then you were correct.  Isn't this layout a great way to use designer paper that coordinates.  I forget but I think I got my inspiration for this layout from Pinterest.  That is one place I love to go for ideas.

The open work balloon is one of my favorites in the stamp set.  Whatever you place behind it looks great.  I featured this stamp set in one of posts a few months ago.

The stamped balloons are easy to use since they can be cut out with one of the matching thinlits that go with this set.  And the clouds can be used with a lot of different cards.  I was definitely pleased to see this set continue on in our new catalog.

Scrapbook Week-Everything Old

  The Designer paper is retired and the thinlit is retired but this layout can easily be replaced with new product.  

I see the new Daisy Punch could easily be made to replace the flowers on this layout.

What about the designer paper that goes with the Daisy punch called Delightful Daisy.  Hmm, I think I have a great idea for my July or August layout.

Using a template for a scrapbook layout can make coming up with original ideas easier than you might think.  If you are a scrapbooker, where do you go for your ideas?

My last layout for this week uses a favorite stamp set from the Occasions catalog, and some favorite designer paper from the Sale a Bration catalog.  Can you guess what they might be?  Come back tomorrow to see if you guessed correctly. 

Scrapbook Week-Using Scraps

  During March I knew it was getting close to the end of the catalog year and I wanted to make a layout that would help use some of my leftover designer paper.  The banners were so easy to make because of the triple banner punch.  What would you put on a page with this title?

  When May came I still had a lot of designer paper left to use so I came up with this layout.  I did add the accent pieces made with the new Eastern Palace stamp set which I have fallen in love with.

Tomorrow I will show you how I included the old with the new on another layout from June.

Scrapbook Week-From a Paper Pumpkin kit

  Once a month I have a scrapbook class I call Scrapbook Your Life.  Each scrapbooker makes 2 two-page spreads. If they bring their pages back the next month with pictures on them, I give them a little something extra.

The layout was inspired by the May Paper Pumpkin Kit.  I traced the donut shape on the card and made stencils for the stampers to trace around.

Here's how I made the chocolate donut.

1. Trace around the stencil onto Early Espresso card stock.
2. Press a VersaMark pad all over the card stock.
3. Emboss with clear embossing powder to give the donut a shiny look.
 I called this my chocolate glazed donut.

I used the now retired sprinkles punch to make the swirls on the confetti donut.

The white frosting on the lower donut was made similar to the chocolate donut except I used white embossing powder on the VersaMark.  

This layout just happened to be created right before National Donut Day.  What a coincidence.

Scrapbooking is a great way to use up small pieces of designer paper.  The next two layouts I will show tomorrow did just that.

Scrapbook Week-Candy Cane Lane designer paper

This paper just made me smile when I saw it in the Holiday catalog.  So, I made cards and finally scrapbook pages out of the images. Here are the items I used from the Holiday catalog to make these 2 pages.

1. Real Red 3/4" stitched ribbon
2. Candy Cane Lane designer paper
3. Real Red 12 by 12" card stock

The tiny images were easy to cut out and the peppermints were punched out with my 1/2" punch.

Scrapbook Week-Forever Evergreen kit

How did I make this tree?

1. I took one of the pre-cut trees from the Forever Evergreen kit in the Holiday Catalog and cut it in half along the score line.

2. I used the items in the kit that were intended to be used to decorate the tree and decorated by scrapbook pages.

3. I cut the pom pom trim so that when the pages were laid next to each other the trim matched.

This was a fun way to use the items for the 3-d tree in a different way.

Scrapbook Week-November Paper Pumpkin kit

 Do you subscribe to the Paper Pumpkin?  I have been getting kits from the very beginning.  I do several things when I get my kit each month.

1. I made at least one sample of the projects that come in the kit.

2. Then I try to think out of the box to make the projects look a little bit different.

3. If I can I try to create a scrapbook layout with each kit.

4. Finally, I challenge myself to use every single bit of paper, ribbon, embellishments and even some of the scraps so that nothing goes to waste.

This layout was something I imagined making when I saw the November kit called Winter Wonderland.  It was fun putting the different items together to make these layouts.

Scrapbook Week-Designer Paper Stacks

    

Do you love using the designer paper stacks in your stamping?  Here is why I enjoy using them in projects...

1. There are a large variety of papers that coordinate with each other.

2. They are 6 by 6 which makes them perfect for cards or scrapbook pages.

3. They make the project go together quickly.

I love the look of black and white and color so decided these papers that are now retired would look great with red and pink.

I added a grouping of flowers in the center of each page to provide the contrast I wanted.  I used coordinating pinks and reds.  I think I will find some black and white pictures to post on these pages. I'd back the pictures in black.

I will be away on my family reunion next week in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.  It is my turn to plan the reunion so I will be a busy beaver while we are gone.  So, I am going to take a vacation from my blog for a week or so and enjoy visiting with the 23 members of my immediate family who will gather together.  Hope that all of you are enjoying your summer and have an opportunity to get together at some point with your family members.

Scrapbook Week- Using Scraps

  I found this layout idea from something I had saved years ago.  I thought it was a great way to use up scraps.  I punched lots of 1 1/2 inch squares.  Now, that the punch is retired you could use the layered squares framelits to cut your squares. 

  I am thinking I will put some of the pictures from our family reunion on these pages.  The page on the left will be perfect for the family group picture we take each year.

Scrapbook Week- Happy 4th of July

    I decided since my favorite stamp set is not ready to use yet, that I would feature scrapbook pages this week.  My Scrapbook Your Life class met last week and this is one of the layouts we made.  I can't wait to put some pictures of the family reunion on this layout.

 I have had this Uncle Sam laying around for several years.  It was originally a refrigerator magnet and I turned it into an accent piece for the scrapbook page.

Miscellaneous Monday-Scrapbook Your Life for March

  I love the look of black and white.  And for a scrapbook page any picture would look good with black and white.  I decided a little bit of red and dark pink would make a great accent piece to this layout.

  Cindy said she was going to put some pictures of her black and white cat on this layout.  Wonder what I can find to put there?

Miscellaneous Monday-Scrapbook Your Life for February

    I recently attended a quilting retreat and after 4 days of sewing was inspired to make a scrapbook layout that had a quilting look to it.

1. I found several different blue designer papers and cut them into 2 inch squares.

2. I layered them on white which then went on two different colors of solid cardstock.

3. To give the layout an even more wintery look I added the words Snowy Day cut out in silver glimmer paper.

Now, maybe I will have to find something similar to make with fabric.

My computer is all better now, so come back tomorrow to see a technique card.

Winter Wonderland Scrapbook Layout

   This is the second layout we made at my scrapbook class in December.  I love the color combination of black, gold, and white, and how the designer paper Winter Wonderland shows it off.
