Serene Silhouettes-Ink Once Stamp Three Times

     Does this card have a format that seems familiar to you?  This is a swap I got from my friend Cheryl.  She and I have a similar style in stamping, simple and appealing.  Notice the background she used on the card.  Looks like 3 colors but it is the same color stamped 3 times but inked once like this other swap I posted last week.

Simple Sunday-In-color Congratulations

   Do you like the new Stampin'Up! in-colors? I do and think it is fun to create cards that feature the new in-colors to get a feel for different combinations of those colors.  This is a card we made at a recent Jubilant Butterflies meeting in Springfield.  I am pretty sure Julie Davison created this card for us to make.  If you take a close look at the word Congratulations you can see an sample of each one of the new in-colors. Simple, but gets the message across.

Hoping for Summer Swap

    Most of the events I attend have an option to swap card fronts with other stampers.  I like to take advantage whenever I can.  This adorable card was one of the swaps I got recently at the Jubilant Stampers meeting.  Ann made the card.  I don't think I would change a thing.  Can you tell what is used for every single part of the owl sun bathers?

THE OWL PUNCH of course.

The bows are the hearts
The bathing suit bottom is the bottom of the owl with the feet cut off
The top of the bathing suit is the largest eye from the punch.

All I have left to say is  LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!  Thanks Ann for such great inspiration.

Jubilant Butterlies March make n take

     Can you see the items on this card that are from the Occasions catalog?

1. The tiny flower is from the Petite Petals stamp set with matching punch.  I love how it is used as a closure for the card.

2. The tulips are from the Blessed Easter single stamp and actually pop up from the top of the card.

3.  The Decorative Dots embossing folder was used to create texture on the white cardstock.  You can order this as your free item from the Sale a Bration brochure.  This once a year event is over March 31st so its not too late to place an order for you free item.

     My friend Julie Davison designed this card.  Here is a video she made showing how to make it. Maybe making this card will make spring come roaring.

A Frame for the Winter

      One of the last things I did before I left for Ohio to help out my daughter was attend the December meeting of the Jubilant Butterflies. We always have a gift exchange for our December meeting.  Rae Ellen made this wonderful frame using the Festive Flurry stamp set and matching framelits.  I just love it and think it is a great thing to display all winter long. I am going to make something similar for my January Frame art class later on this month. 

Wednesday Wow- Stenciling on a card

     Tonight was another Jubilant Butterflies meeting.  We often share technique ideas with each other and I shared different ways I used stenciling on cards.  For this card I used the leaf from the Secret Garden framelits to make a background for my card.  Don't have a background paper you like....then make your own.

     I tried to think of other ways to use a stencil and came up with the idea of using it as a shadow to a punched out image.  On this card I even cut around one of the stenciled images and used it as my flower.  It gives it a softer look than an ink pad.

     I got a little crazy on this last card and did reverse stenciling.  I used the cut out flower and brushed around the edges of the flower with a sponge. Next, I found another flower shape in the framelit set and with a different color on my sponge did some more sponging not caring if they overlapped at all.  Finally, I chose a 3rd color using the same process.  To finish I even used the flower pieces I had sponged around as part of the card.  A little funky, but hey I have to get out of my comfort zone now and then.

   This is the card that started off all my thinking about stenciling in the first place.  Which card is your favorite and why?  If you think you would like to try some stenciling with me, let me know and we can get a party set up soon.

Aqua Painter shading

     What was the first stamp set that caught your eye when you opened the new catalog?  Well, the Wetlands stamp set was one of the ones I was immediately drawn to.  We made this card at the Jubilant Butterflies meeting last week.  There are a few things that were surprises to me when I made the card.

1.  We shaded the inside of the Canada Goose image with an Aqua Painter filled with water and reinker.

2. The tab at the top of the tag was made with the ticket punch, folded in half.

3. The corners of the tag were made with one side of the hexagon punch.

   Let me know what your favorite stamp set was and I will feature some more of my favorites in future blogs.

Telescoping card

     One of the cards we made at the Jubilant Butterflies meeting used several different sized circles, and scalloped circle shapes.  The trick or treat in the center is from the set called Tags for You and is one of the sets everyone at convention received for free.  Put your hands on the center circle and give a little twist and then.....

  

    This is what you see.  Isn't that fun!  The saying in the center of the card is from the set called Halloween Bash that I received for free as a prize patrol.  Can't wait to show my stamping friends how to make this cute card.

Julie's Undefined stamp

  This is one of the cards we made at the Jubilant Butterflies meeting this past Tuesday.  It uses the Thinlits Circle card that I used on my card yesterday.  But the best part of this card is the snail stamp.  StampinUp has come out with a new kit called Undefined.  I am so excited about this new kit.  It allows you to actually create and carve your own design.  Julie created the snail ands we all used it on our cards.
  I found out about Undefined at convention and have been a little nervous about actually carving my own stamp.  After Tuesday I have gotten the courage to give it a try and have a design figured out in my head.  Check out my blog tomorrow to see my design.
