Mini treat Bag Thinlit-Simple Sunday

  Linda came over the other day and we had fun playing with some of the new items in the Occasions catalog.  The mini treat bag was one of them.  There are 12 pieces to this thinlit set.  I chose some of the Best Year Ever designer paper from the Sale a Bration catalog.  The bag was so easy to make.  There are two thinlits to each bag and they go together easily.  Check out this video to show you how easy it really is.
  The other thing Linda and I played with was the Butterfly Framelit set. The butterflies that come out of the framelit are so gorgeous.  As soon as that bundle is in my hands I will feature that set for a week.  I thought the butterfly made a great addition to my bag for today.  What would you put into a treat bag like this one? 
   

Best Day Ever-Simple Sunday

     I try to make gift card sized thank you notes for any customer that orders from me.  For those that order online I try to send them one in the mail.  Here are a few that I made to send out this week to the people who ordered at the end of 2014.  I had a hard time stopping it was so much fun and so easy.

Work of Art-Simple Sunday

     I am glad to be back home, but sad to leave family behind.  So what do I do when I am feeling a little blue, get out some stamps and go to town.
    The featured stamp set this week will be Work of Art.  I will focus on alternate ways to use the stamp set.  Today, Simple Sunday seemed the appropriate day to make a simple watermelon.  I found this idea last summer on Pinterest and made invites to a downline party with the stamp set.  Fast, fun and easy.

Anything But a Card, Simple Sunday

     A handmade ornament makes a great Christmas gift topper, or a gift for a special friend.  This is a simple ornament that looks great.

White Christmas-Simple Sunday

I will be entering this card into the challenge for Friday Mashup and Freshly Made Sketches.

     Do you have snow on the ground yet?  We had snow last week, but today it the temperature is in the 50's.  Yep, tomorrow the forecast is for the 20's.  Must be Illinois!
   White Christmas is another set I love.  First of all it is photopolymer which makes it so easy to mount on a block. Secondly, it has so many options.  The title says Christmas but the cards you make with the set do not have to be Christmas.  This card for example could welcome winter. Check back this week for more great samples using this versatile stamp set.
  I have not done a challenge card for quite some time and decided to submit this card for the following two challenges. The Friday Mashup and Freshly Made Sketches.

 

I'm Back with Holiday Home-Simple Sunday

 
My stitches are out, and I am walking normally and so glad to be back.  My recovery took a bit longer than I had imagined, but it is so nice to have a straight looking pain-free foot.

This week I will be featuring the Holiday Home stamp set and matching framelit.  I was immediately attracted to this set when I first opened the Holiday Catalog.  I think it was the versatility of the set and the fact it is a photopolymer set.  This card is so simple and CASE'd from Stampin Success the magazine we get each month as a perk for being a demonstrator with Stampin'Up.

Freaky Friends-Simple Sunday

  Another trip to Ohio, a successful garage sale with my daughter, and now back to stamping.  This week, I am going to feature Freaky Friends in my postings.  I thought I would start out with a cute but simple card.  Where did I find this idea, why looking on Pinterest of course. 

1. Cardstock is cut from a 12 by 12 sheet of Whisper White sized 3 by 6. 

2. Designer paper from Back to Black cut 3 by 3 is attached to the top of the notecard.

3. Vellum cardstock cut 3 by 3 is attached on the left hand side of the card front with 2 glue dots. 

Now, how easy is that.

   I think these will be my October thank you cards.  They are so cute and so easy.

Kinda Eclectic-Simple Sunday

Final card the top Super Snails will receive in their gift box.

   A card does not have to be detailed to get across the message and to be good looking.  The star image in the Kinda Eclectic stamp set is so stunning that is does not need a lot to make it stamp out.  The centers of the stars are made using 2 gold buttons of different sizes one on top of the other. I know I would feel good receiving a card like this, wouldn't you?

I have had a great time finding ideas to use this great stamp set in many different ways.  I wonder what stamp set will be featured next week......maybe something for Halloween.

You Rock-Simple Sunday

  Who would you give this card to?  All the ladies at Knollwood, a assisted living facility I volunteer at each month, made this card last month and loved it!  Everyone at convention got a single stamp set and this is the one that I received.  Love it!!  I can see making cards for my downline that I could send out when they have a special occasion worth noting. 
  You might be wondering what the background to the card is.  I purchased the designer paper stack called All Abloom and use the papers for backgrounds when I go to Knollwood.  The ladies love being able to choose which side they use on the card. Simple but Fun card to make. Who rocks in your life/

Easy Peasy Background-Simple Sunday

 
   Doesn't this look like it might be hard to create?  Well, it qualifies as a simple card. I got the idea for this card when I noticed one of the blog entries from my friend Julie Davison.  Check out her card here. The background is made with one of the stamps in the Work of Art. 

1. Ink up the stamp using a different color each time to create the look of fall.

2. Stamp the trees from Lovely as a Tree stamp set and the saying from For All Things using Early Espresso Ink.

3. Assemble your card

Now, how simple is that, but in my opinion very striking. I might have to use this technique on a different kind of card.

Washi Tape Galore-Simple Sunday

   This is a swap I got at convention.  Know what I love about it?

1. Washi tape, fast and easy to use.

2. Simple design easy to duplicate.

3. Great way to showcase my sentiment.

Simple Sunday-In-color Congratulations

   Do you like the new Stampin'Up! in-colors? I do and think it is fun to create cards that feature the new in-colors to get a feel for different combinations of those colors.  This is a card we made at a recent Jubilant Butterflies meeting in Springfield.  I am pretty sure Julie Davison created this card for us to make.  If you take a close look at the word Congratulations you can see an sample of each one of the new in-colors. Simple, but gets the message across.

Simple Sunday-Freshly Made Sketches challenge

 

 

 

    

     What makes a card simple? I usually try to make a simple card in just 15 minutes or less.  Let's see if this card really is simple.

1. Cut the layers of card stock and designer paper- 5 minutes especially if you already know the size of the papers.

2. Punch out the butterfly 30 seconds

3. Stamp the saying in versa mark 30 seconds

4. Emboss the saying with gold embossing powder 1 minute

5. Punch out the embossed saying 30 seconds

Layer the card and you  are finished in less than 10 minutes.  So, according to my definition of a simple card this qualifies.  What is your definition of a simple card?

Simple Sunday-Use an old Christmas card

     Have you ever wondered what you could do with old Christmas cards?  Well, one of my stampers, Judy, figured out a great way to use them.  Create a new Christmas card.

 1. Cut a frame of your choice.  Judy used the Apothocery Accents framelit for her card.

2. Embossed the frame, she embossed using the polka dots embossing folder.

3. Attach the card under the frame and layer the card base to your liking.

Super simple!  Now, to find all those old cards I knew I needed to save for some reason.  Thanks Judy for a great idea.

Simple Sunday- Christmas card

     I got the idea for this card from Connie Babbert.  Her ,Inkspired Creations, has so many inspirational ideas that I like.  I like this card for its simplicity and elegance. You can duplicate this card in 4 easy steps.

1. Emboss the card front using the Fancy Fan embossing folder.

2. Stamp the snowflake from the Festive Flurries stamp set using Cherry Cobbler ink.

3. Cut out the two snowflakes using the Festive Flurries framelits.  Both snowflakes can be cut out at the same time, especially if you have the Magnetic Platform.

4. Stamp the saying of your choice onto the top layer of white card stock.  I used one of the sayings from the More Merry Messages (126402).  This stamp set is not in the current catalog but still available to order.

5. Add your finishing touches by layering the pieces together and you have a great card made in under a half an hour.

Simple Sunday-Freshly Made sketch Doily

     I thought the sketch this week was kind of strange.  The piece that goes from one side to the other had a break in it.  Me, I like things completed so it looks a little odd.  But, to stretch myself I went with the look anyway.

1. I knew I wanted to use the doily for the focal point. 

2. I decided a bit of Coastal Cabana underneath would look good as would the In-Color Boutique Details.

3. For the strip I decided on Winter Frost designer paper but to give it a more frilly look, I placed the Ruffle stretch trim on either side of the paper. 

4. Something seemed to be missing so I added some of the tiny pearls in the center area of the design. 

 I am happy with my card even though I keep wanting to add a bit more paper to the strip.

Simple Sunday-Gently Falling, Freshly Made Sketch

 

 

     I am in love with all the fall colors I see whenever I get in my car to go somewhere.  So, I decided to use the stamp set, Gently Falling, for my sketch challenge this week. Here's what I love about this stamp......

1. Two step stamping and how it gives the image a dimensional look.

2. The rough look of the images.

3. How easy it is to use just one of the images and make a great looking card, either just the outline, or just the solid.

   I had a great time thinking up what I wanted to do with this card.  Isn't it amazing that just a simple sketch can help jump start my creativity.  What kind of card would you make with this sketch?

Simple Sunday- Freshly Made Star

     It is Sunday so I must be trying out a new Freshly Made Sketch.  This time I wanted to make a Christmas card, so I looked at a stamp I had not used yet, the single stamp called Christmas star.

     I usually do not do blue Christmas cards, but love the look of the color Coastal Cabana.  I accented the card with some silver glimmer paper and silver ribbon, through the Designer Vintage Faceted button.  The Coastal Cabana design from the Eastern Elegance designer paper seemed perfect for how I wanted the card to look.  The large paper doily had been hard to use when I last used it, but this time I tried layering some waxed paper with the card stock and it worked like a charm.  Now, I have a simple, but elegant Christmas card ready to send to someone special. 

Simple Sunday- Fall Freshly Made Sketch

     As you can tell I love doing these Freshly Made Sketches.  They are just simple enough they do not threaten me, and give me enough guidelines I feel like I can be creative.  Since I have done a lot of Halloween cards, I decided this week to try my hand at a fall card using my favorite set Truly Grateful.

1. Sweater Weather for the bottom layer-love the colors.

2. Stamped the chevron pattern with Chocolate Chip ink on some Vanilla card stock for the next layer

3.  Used the wide burlap ribbon for the layer that goes across the card.  Added some bronze colored glitter brads as accents

4. Stamped the wheat with Chocolate Chip ink on Crushed Curry card stock and rough cut it out.  Added linen thread to follow the tied element in the stamp.

5. Instead of banners I placed 2 acorns colored with Crushed Curry and Crumb Cake markers.

I tried to interpret the basic design in a little different way and love the results.  This may be my swap for the Jubilant Butterflies meeting November 5th.

Simple Sunday Washi tape cards

    I have spent the last few hours trying to figure out this lap top!!!!  So, you can imagine I needed a simple project to post for today.  I like to include a tiny thank you card in every order that I receive.  I have lots of fun creating the designs, and they go pretty fast since the cards are 3 by 6 folded in half.  This is the card I created for the next 10 customers.  I thought you might enjoy my formula for making a quick thank you note card.

1. Choose one of the Washi tape grouping and place one strip of each color on your 3 by 6 card. In this first card I used the Witches Brew tape.

2. Look for a small image that complements the Washi tape. I thought the images in the Halloween Hello stamp set were so cute and the size was just right for the card.

3. Find a small saying you can add to the card.  I wanted mine to all say Thank you in some way.

After I made this one, I thought I would just make a bunch using the same design and a different Washi tape collection each time.
 

For my next card I used Epic This and That Washi tape and the Postage collection stamps.

On to the Gingham Garden Washi tape and the A Round Array stamp set.

Next  was the Season's of Style Washi tape and the That's the Ticket stamp set with matching punch. I definitely on a roll and did not want to stop so......

I chose one color of each grouping and placed them in a group using the A Fitting Occasion stamp set as my accent piece.  This was so much fun. It took me about 30 minutes to make the 5 cards and 90 minutes to figure out how to get them on my blog.
