Make it Simple Monday-Batter Up week

Make it Smple Monday is back.  Today I will be using supplies from the May Paper Pumpkin kit called Batter Up.  This is paper pumpkin week, so at least one card  I feature will be using supplies from that kit.  I love doing this.  It helps me think outside the box with the cards I made from the kit.

Here is the template for the week.  It is a great one that allows for a lot of creative interpretation.

Here is the card that I made using the supplies from Batter Up.  I like to cut apart the card fronts and envelopes to give me extra pieces to play with.

I also created a card using the suite I will be featuring in June.  Pansy Petals is going to be a fun suite to feature.  It has great stamps, lots of dies to create the layers of a pansy and designer paper with pansy that can be cut out with the dies.  The extra fun thing about this suite is the colors are some of the new colors.

Make it Simple Monday-So Cool Paper Pumpkin

It is time for a new template and simple card.  Are you ready?

This is the template for the week.  I love the idea of the curvy line.  This will be fun.

For my simple card I made it really simple. 

1. I cut apart one of the envelopes in the paper pumpkin kit and cut a wavy line in my cut out piece. 

2. I cut one of the cards in the kit in half and used the popsicle as my shape.

3. Finally, I used one of the tags to stamp on the saying.  

4. I used a strip from the envelope for my inside and for my envelope.

Now, for the fun of figuring out how to step it up for Thursday.

These next simple cards are ones I made for the ladies that live at the assisted living in town. I was so glad when the activity director contacted me about coming back and having monthly classes once again.  I have been fully vaccinated and so have the ladies.  I still wore my mask.

Epic Celebrations-Sale a Bration

At first when I saw this Sale a Bration set it did not appeal to me.  But, then I thought it reminded me of teenagers and then I thought that I have several teen aged grand kids that might like a card made with this set.

This first card was so simple.  I can see it made in a variety of colors, or even the template used for each stamp in the set.

This was one of my favorite cards.  I found a similar card on Pinterest and just changed up some things.  I love a card that is a collage.  It is hard to go wrong with a card like this.  Even if your stamping is not perfect the collage effect can cover little mistakes.  The background for the card is black card stock that did not show up real well on the black background paper.

Here you can see the gold filigree behind the guitar.  Kind of looks like the strings of the guitar.

This is another simple card that could be used for each one of the stamps.

I love how the Striped paper looks like the frets on a guitar.  It was cut from the True Gentleman designer paper.

This card is my favorite that I made for my grandson Naij's half birthday. I have been notoriously late with birthday cards, but have vowed this year to do a better job.  I missed Naij's birthday last September so am sending him this card for his half birthday.  He designs sneakers so I thought this would be perfect for him.

My favorite go to card now is an eclipse card.  I try to think of something that the person enjoys and make a card using those stamps.  Can you see Naij's name on the card?

I think it shows up better here.  I hope he will have fun with his unexpected birthday card.

Lots to Love box with cards

Do you love making a box?  The Lots to Love framelit set has a great box pattern.  I will be featuring it this week and showing you several different ways to use the box pattern.  Today I am just going to show the box as it is used in the framelit set.

 You cut out two of the box patterns and glue them together to make this cute small box.  It can be used to hold a gift card, some candy or some cute note cards.

I punched a circle from the designer paper and inserted it in the inside of the envelope to be matchy.

I have used the Bubble and Fizz designer paper that is a free Sale a Bration item to make these cards.  I also used the Whisper White Narrow Note cards and envelopes to make the cards.  These can not be sent as is in the mail, but could be placed in a regular sized envelope.

This is what the front of the envelope looks like.  

 All 4 of these cards and envelopes will fit nicely into the box.

Tomorrow I will show you how to use one half of the box pattern to make a flat envelope that can hold a gift card.

Everything Heart Card Cafe-Sure Do Love you

   What do you notice about this card?  Does it look hard or easy to duplicate?

1. The first thing I notice is the colors.  I love the Painted with Love designer paper that is a part of the Sure Do Love you suite.

2. The similar shapes.  The Sweet and Sassy thinlits make cutting out the hearts so easy.

3. The little gold hearts are stickers.  Easy to take off the sheet and easy to attach to the card.

  Whether the card looks easy or not it is easy to create.

I used the same color scheme to make the box that is a part of the Sure
Do Love you bundle.

Swirly Bird-Template Thursday

Did  you guess Washi Tape?  Then you were correct.  Why do I love Washi Tape?

1. Easy to place on the cardstock.  I tear a piece a little larger than I need and wrap it around to the back side.

2. Easy to tear.  Not as thick as masking tape and easier to move if you get some in the wrong place.

3. Colorful and helps you make a lot of cards quickly.

This template is so easy to duplicate.

Wednesday Wow-Neutral Colors

 Do you find yourself drawn to a certain card and wonder why?  I loved this card when I found it on Pinterest and thought about why I was attracted to it.

1. The neutral colors made the rose element pop.

2. The layout was simple not a lot to distract me from the main element.

3. The thinlit of the rose and how it allowed the designer paper to show.

  I think you could put a lot of sayings on this card and have it work for many occasions. What would you use this card for?

Last Year first, now This Year

    I needed another quick card idea and found this card I made last year for the ladies that stamp with me at Knollwood.  I liked how it used designer paper and a simple image.

Using my big shot  The window, the sill, and the work spooky all used the big shot to be cut out.

   I wonder if some of the other designer papers would look as good behind a coordination window?  Hmm sounds like a challenge to pursue.

     This card features another favorite photopolymer stamp set called Lovely Amazing You. How did I get the Tip Top Taupe accent piece?  Well, I just cut one the label punches in half and glued each half to the top and bottom of the saying.

     Simple can be great. I like the look of a simple card and this one foots the bill.  Only 3 items on the card, but the card uses 4 new catalog items.

   Once a month I do a card class at our local library and at the Senior center in town.  In order not to have lots of cards to create each month, which would be lots of fun, but also be
time consuming, I use some of the cards from my card buffet at the library and senior center. I try to choose cards that would be easy to reproduce with varying levels of difficulty.  This is one of the cards they will be making this month. What would you change about this card?

Easy Peasy Background-Simple Sunday

 
   Doesn't this look like it might be hard to create?  Well, it qualifies as a simple card. I got the idea for this card when I noticed one of the blog entries from my friend Julie Davison.  Check out her card here. The background is made with one of the stamps in the Work of Art. 

1. Ink up the stamp using a different color each time to create the look of fall.

2. Stamp the trees from Lovely as a Tree stamp set and the saying from For All Things using Early Espresso Ink.

3. Assemble your card

Now, how simple is that, but in my opinion very striking. I might have to use this technique on a different kind of card.

For All Things stamp set-Miscellaneous Monday

     It sure feels like fall today, one of my favorite seasons.  This card also makes me feel like fall.  It is one of the featured cards in my Fill Your Cardbox with Fall cards class that is happening today at 12:30 and 6:30.
    You might wonder where I got the idea for this card?  Well, as a demonstrator I receive a magazine once every two months called Stampin Success.  It has lots of good ideas that help me become a better demonstrator.  This was one of the cards featured in the latest addition of the magazine and I loved it.

1. The colors, Hello Honey and Blackberry Bliss

2. The simpleness Washi tape, stamp, button and thread.

3. The stamp set For All Things that made the design easy to reproduce.

Simple Sunday-Freshly Made Sketches challenge

 

 

 

    

     What makes a card simple? I usually try to make a simple card in just 15 minutes or less.  Let's see if this card really is simple.

1. Cut the layers of card stock and designer paper- 5 minutes especially if you already know the size of the papers.

2. Punch out the butterfly 30 seconds

3. Stamp the saying in versa mark 30 seconds

4. Emboss the saying with gold embossing powder 1 minute

5. Punch out the embossed saying 30 seconds

Layer the card and you  are finished in less than 10 minutes.  So, according to my definition of a simple card this qualifies.  What is your definition of a simple card?

Two for One Washi Tape card

  

    Do you like the idea of making one card turn into two?  Well, the card I did at Knollwood assisted living facility this month was just that.  I had been wanting to try Washi tape with my stamping friends and created this simple card based on one I had done a while ago with my stampers. I had enough colors of Washi tape to give each lady two colors.  The tearing of the tape was very easy for them.  I did the punching of the butterflies.  Okay you ask how can I make another card from this card?

     The punched out butterflies helped make the second card.  I thought the results looked good and fit my requirements for Stamping at Knollwood: simple, cute looking, and easy to make.  How would you design a two for one card?

Simple says it all

     I was looking for just the right card to use this wonderful design.  It is so bold I knew it would not need much.  Then I looked at the stamp I not used yet and decided to create the card above.  As I made the card I was thinking how much fun it would to give to one of my grandchildren for a great report card, or doing something they had been working hard to accomplish.  Then, I thought this card could go to anyone that worked hard.  And think how easy it would be to duplicate.  I did not have to think too hard to come up with this cute and simple card.  What would you use this card for?

Scrappin Saturday-Using up your DSP

     I swapped a card with Gracelyn at the Jubilant Butterflies meeting and decided I wanted to use it for a Thank You card.  What appealed to me most was the tiny strip of designer paper that was at the bottom of the card.  Now who does not have leftover pieces of designer paper that are 1/4 in thick.  I love when I can make use of all the parts of my paper, don't you?

Template Tuesday Linda's card inspiration

     This was the card base that Linda brought to our Super Snails event.  I like the polka dots don't you?  I usually take cards like this and add them to my pile of things to do later on.  Do you have a pile like that?  Well, lately my mantra I say to myself is finish it up.  So one afternoon I looked at this card base and decided to make it in to a finished card, thinking it might be something I can take to Knollwood the next time I go.

     I wanted the finished card to be simple so I looked at the colors that were already there, Real Red and Old Olive and made this card.  The stamped image was easy because it is from the Tag It set, which has its a matching set of framelits, Chalk Board, to cut it out.  And I found another framelit set, Labels, to cut out an accent piece.  The end product is just what I need for my trip to Knollwood this week.  Thanks Linda for your inspiration.
