You Brighten My Day- Template Tuesday

     I love to send cards out to people to celebrate events in their life.  This card is simple, but follows my template for a card.  Card stock, ink and a punch or two. Here's what I used for this card.

White Christmas-Template Tuesday

     Have you been keeping track of the number of stamps in this stamp set?  I have used 5 from the set on this card.  Since I have been back posting on my blog, I have been trying to enter some challenges to keep my creative juices flowing.  The challenge for this card was to follow the sketch from Pals Paper Arts.  It was fun to combine the stamp set and the sketch.

Freaky Friends-Template Tuesday

  I like to take a template and use it in many different ways.  I took the template I used yesterday, turned it on its side and then created this card.  This is one of my favorites and here's why....

1. I was able to use a little bit of the tree on one of the pages of the Motley Monsters designer paper for my up and down focus.

2. I stamped all the little monsters from Freaky Friends that I had not used before and decided they might look cute standing on each other's heads.

3. The saying looked cute in a word bubble.

Straw-Blowing Kinda Eclectic-Technique Tuesday

Kinda Eclectic with the straw blowing background, and an entry for a Friday Mashup

     What do you think of this background?  Personally I thought it was so much fun to make.  You might wonder where I found the idea for the background.  I found it on the blog called The Friday Mashup.  I have not completed a challenge for quite some time and decided today was the day to try a new one.

 The Friday Mashup gives you two challenges.  The first was to use the colors, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, and Basic Black.  The second was the use the Straw-Blowing technique.  You can choose either challenge or mash them up and use both.  As you can see I tried to use both.

Straw Blowing
1. Place a drop of reinker on a piece of card stock. 

2. Take and straw and blow the ink across the paper into whatever pattern it chooses to go.

3. Continue to drop reinker and blow the ink until the background becomes what you like.

  Do you notice anything similar to the stamp set used today and the one I used yesterday?  They are the same stamp set. I am going to try and feature only one stamp set each week for each daily focus.  I hope that it will show you the versatility of the stamp set and a variety of ways it can be used. Festival of Trees-Template Tuesday

    
    I can't seem to stop making cards using the same template.  This is my latest, a Christmas card using the Festival of Trees stamp set, some washi tape, Gorgeous Grunge background stamp and the saying from Wondrous Wreath.  The final accent piece is one of the snowflakes from the All is Calm embellishments. If you missed the other cards using this same template just click here and you can see them.  Using a template is a fun way to make a really quick card.

Template Tuesday-What Does the Fox Say?

Birthday, green and texture for Paper Players Tic Tac Toe Challenge

    My grand kids love the song What Does the Fox say.  So, I just had to get this set to create a card or two for them.  I also thought this would be a great card to submit to the tic tac toe challenge from The Paper Players. It was a really fun challenge.  You picked 3 items in a row from the tic tac toe board to create your card.

Template Tuesday-Monday Lunchtime Sketch

 

 

   I think I am really changing my dislike of red, white, and blue to a like.  What really helps is the stamp set, Be a Star and the designer paper called Maritime.

   Today I am trying a new challenge site, called Monday Lunchtime Sketch. It was fun to create and turned out pretty good.  What do you think?

Template Tuesday-Friday Mashup

     The little octopus in this stamp set makes me smile.  How about you?  Sea Street was one of the stamp sets that we could pre-order and I thought to myself...why not.  Tuesdays, will be a day that I follow a template.  I looked around and found a different kind of a template that I thought I would enjoy.  This is called Friday Mashup.  They offer two challenges and if you choose you can mashup the challenges and use both on one card. That's what I decided would be fun to try and do.

Challenge:  Use different colors of designer paper on your card, or follow the template below, or do both.

Template Tuesday- Downline Color Challenge

     At the October meeting of the Super Snails people shared the results of last month's challenge.  The challenge was to use Midnight Muse, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso, and one other neutral color in your card.  This is the final results of the card that Nan shared. Can you find her extra neutral color?  It is her black candy dots on 3 corners of her card.

     I love how Cindy used the colors as each petal of her flowers.  That took a lot of time and patience.  Her neutral color was Basic Grey.

     I had fun making this card using the circle thinlits card maker.  My neutral color was Crumb Cake.

     One of my favorite parts of using this thinlit is that you get to design the inside as well as the outside of the card.  I am interested to see what the rest of my downline will do with this challenge.







    

Template Tuesday Linda's card inspiration

     This was the card base that Linda brought to our Super Snails event.  I like the polka dots don't you?  I usually take cards like this and add them to my pile of things to do later on.  Do you have a pile like that?  Well, lately my mantra I say to myself is finish it up.  So one afternoon I looked at this card base and decided to make it in to a finished card, thinking it might be something I can take to Knollwood the next time I go.

     I wanted the finished card to be simple so I looked at the colors that were already there, Real Red and Old Olive and made this card.  The stamped image was easy because it is from the Tag It set, which has its a matching set of framelits, Chalk Board, to cut it out.  And I found another framelit set, Labels, to cut out an accent piece.  The end product is just what I need for my trip to Knollwood this week.  Thanks Linda for your inspiration.

Template Tuesday for Halloween

     For my Tuesday template I went back to a favorite website called Freshly Made Sketches.  I like the sketches because they are simple and therefore easy to put on my personal twist.

     This is what I came up with.  I love the stamps that are featured in the Best of Halloween stamp set and had not used the owl stamp yet.  The background was easy to choose.  I love the colors in the Witches Brew designer paper.  Can you tell that the paper behind the owl stamp is also from the Witches Brew DSP.  It is not solid black.  I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do for a saying and thought of the Halloween stamp from the Seasonal Saying set.  I did not want to use the pumpkin so I inked up the saying with a marker and added a button in the empty space. 
    What would you do for a card with this template?  I would love to see your example. I made this card to be my swap for the Jubilant Butterflies meeting in Springfield.  It might have to be one of the cards we make in my coming class called Hooray for Halloween. Check out this 3-D item everyone will make on October 10th.
