Template Thursday-Sunburst Downline Challenge

At the February meeting of the Super Snails (my downline) we each made our own sunburst similar to mine above.  We then used designer paper for each one of the rays of the sunburst. The challenge for this month's meeting was to bring back your own starburst creation.

I used the designer paper pack called Pretty Petals 

I finished mine off with a focal point in the center.

Darcy tilted her starburst.  It was stunning with all the glimmer paper she used and really did not need anything else on the front.  

Jody used the designer paper from the Occasion catalog called Botanical Gardens

Jody then made a second card using the starburst template she made. Her background paper was from another meeting where we created a background using waxed paper and embossing folders.  I like how she off set her center.  

It was such great fun to see how each person interpreted the challenge in a different way.
Now, I keep wondering how it would look with all kinds of different DSP.

Nan Catches Up

    My sister Nan is one of my downline and even though she lives in Oregon participates in my monthly downline challenge.  Recently she got herself caught up and mailed me her samples of our last few challenges.

Crystal effects reinker, the butterfly is made using this technique done on a window sheet.

Miscellaneous Monday- Downline in-color challenge

My creation

   Who doesn't love a challenge?  Each month I give my downline a challenge that helps encourage their creativity.  This past month the challenge was to use at least a little bit of each one of the new in-colors.  I loved how each card looked so different.

  I love the centerpiece on Nan's card and the brightness of the centerpiece.  She thought her card looked dull, but I thought it was stunning.

   Linda doesn't usually do our challenges, thinks she can't do a good enough job, but this is adorable.  She incorporated ink, designer paper and cardstock to get all her colors.

  Dana stamped the Six Sided Sampler images on the card stock with Versa Mark and then punched the hexagons out with the matching punch.  I like the emphasis on the colors.

   Amanda W used the flower we had colored from our previous meeting as her focal point and then created the background using the in colors.  I love how these colors work with so many other colors.

  Amanda F used the chevron punch and was able to show case some of the colors through the punched out shapes.  Love the creativity of that.

Fix it Friday- Super Snails Challenge

     Does this picture look familiar?  Well, I posted it awhile ago as a make n take from the Spring Into Stamping event I went to in April.  I thought it would be fun to teach my downline how to make the card and then turn it into one of our monthly challenges.  This is the original card.

Watercolor Wonder Challenge

    One of the last challenges I gave to my downline was to use the supplies I gave them on a card.  I included one card from the Watercolor wonder card kit, small samples of each one of the designer Watercolor Wonder papers, and a small strip of gold sequins. I loved the results.

    

    Amanda W used tiny strips of each color of the designer paper.  She attached strips of the sequins under her tag.  Notice the matching envelope.

     Cindy said she didn't like the look of the sequins so she tucked them underneath a piece of the designer paper.  I think the touch of gold looks great.

    

     Nan used the sequins as centers to the flowers and featured the flower side of the designer paper.  She was excited to have blue and green as the colors we used on this challenge.

   Amanda F embossed the card base, made a window to view the saying, and made cute flowers out of the designer paper.  Love the way she used the zigzags as a border on her card.

     I cut out my card front using the Apothecary Accents framelit.  I noticed the flowers on the DSP seemed similar to the Pansy punch and punched them out.  You know me the easy way is the best way.

   I loved the cards my team came up with.  What would you create with the supplies I gave my team.  Have fun thinking and creating.

  

File Folder card challenge

 

     A couple of months ago at a downline meeting we made samples of file folder cards.  The challenge was to take the sample and turn it into a finished card.  Amanda F. had just joined our group and used some of her papers she had at home to make an adorable birthday card. 

   Nan turned her card sideways and added a simple but elegant accent piece. 

  
   I covered my card with some of the This and That papers, punched out some hexagons form another paper in the stack, added a saying and tied the card together with some baker's twine.  It was fun to try this challenge.  Look for what we all did for our watercolor challenge.  Check out this link for directions on how to make a file folder card of your own.

Downline challenge part 2

     This is the picture that Tanya found as her inspiration.  She had it on her phone and emailed it to me.  Looks Yummy!

   Notice how clever she was to include the same colors from the picture, and even the Sesame seeds are reflected in the splatter across the page.  This definitely was a fun challenge. You should try one of your own, and send it to me.

Template Tuesday- Downline Color Challenge

     At the October meeting of the Super Snails people shared the results of last month's challenge.  The challenge was to use Midnight Muse, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso, and one other neutral color in your card.  This is the final results of the card that Nan shared. Can you find her extra neutral color?  It is her black candy dots on 3 corners of her card.

     I love how Cindy used the colors as each petal of her flowers.  That took a lot of time and patience.  Her neutral color was Basic Grey.

     I had fun making this card using the circle thinlits card maker.  My neutral color was Crumb Cake.

     One of my favorite parts of using this thinlit is that you get to design the inside as well as the outside of the card.  I am interested to see what the rest of my downline will do with this challenge.







    

Wednesday Wow-Cindy's Undefined stamp set

     At the August meeting of the Super Snails, I gave everyone a piece of stamp carving material and encouraged them to carve their own stamp.  Cindy has a monthly club that calls themselves the Scrap Chicks so she thought it would be fun to create a chick as her group's logo.  I challenged everyone to bring back a card this month that featured their hand carved stamp.  This is what Cindy showed up with.  Don't you want to be a Scrap Chick.

   The Undefined stamp carving kit allows everyone to be a stamp creator.  I know I have just loved the chance to make stamps of my own.  So, give it a try and become your own stamp creator.

     One of my latest Super Snails challenges was to look at  this Freshly Made Sketch and make one of their own.

Super Snail In-Color Challenge of the Month

     When my down line met last month, I handed each one a quarter of a sheet of the new in-colors.  The challenge was to use each color somehow in a project. I love, what everyone came up with.

Cindy use tiny pieces of her paper to make quilling flowers. 

Abby, my granddaughter used the build an owl punch to show off her colors.



Nan used a dark background which caused the pastel colors to really pop.


 

I used tiny strips of the card stock, embossed some, and punched some others.

     Have you ever had an idea pop up in your head and tried to put in down on paper?  That is what happened with my design.  I was so surprised to see that my vision actually turned out the way I wanted it to.

Supplies needed

Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush, Baked Brown Sugar, and Whisper White card stock (Makes me hungry just writing these down)

Super Snails Washi Tape Challenge cards

Supplies for the April Challenge for the Super Snails



     At the April meeting of my downline, The Super Snails, we learned how to decorate ribbon so that it had a rainbow effect.  Then, I gave each person attending the meeting, 3 strips of washi tape and a piece of This and That Epic Day designer paper.  The challenge was to create a project using those items.  Well, last night was the night they brought back their finished projects.  Everyone agreed it was very challenging to find ways in include the washi tape, but I loved the results.

I had fun making this card, but wondered if it was too busy.

Nan used the backside of the designer paper.  Can you find her washi tape?



Janet twirled her ribbon into a cute ball.

Amanda used every bit of the ribbon.  I love the scarf and waist feature of the dress.

Cindy used some wire to make a flower focal piece.

Jody added some of the window sheet the washi tape was attached to on her card

And had enough supplies to make two cards. I think she added some of her own washi tape to this one.

     It was great fun to see how every one approached the challenge in a different way.  What would your card have looked like if you had gotten the supplies the Super Snails received?  I often take other people's designs as my starting off point for a card, but in these challenges they are always a Sushi Original.
