Halloween Week-Spooky Night

  Would you  believe me if I told you this card is one of the easiest I am posting to make.  All you need is Spooky Night designer paper, the cat punch and the big shot.  There is only one tiny saying that uses ink. I was inspired by a card posted from the blog called createwithchristy.blogspot.com

The cat, the tree brand, the pumpkin, and the paper on the lower part of the card are all from the designer paper.

The window and pumpkin are cut out using the big shot.

The cat and the saying are cut out with punches.

  Not much easier than that.  I could easily make this card for each one of my 11 grand children.

  Tomorrow I am going to feature a Sushi Original.  I did not go to Pinterest for the idea, just used a Faux metal card base I made with my downline a month ago.  Intrigued, come back tomorrow to check it out.

Halloween Week-Spooky cat

  

  For some reason I love pictures and figurines of cute little mice.  Now, I would have to say that the mouse in this set looks a lot more like a rat to me than a cute little mouse.  But, when I saw this card sample on Pinterest, I knew I had to recreate it.  It is so darn cute. It was shared as a sample from lisastampstudio.com.

1. Stamp your images on the Wood Textures designer paper used as background paper. I laid the wood pieces where I wanted to them to be able to place the images on the background paper.

2. Emboss this piece using the Pinewood Plank embossing folder.

3. Stamp the lined stamp from the Spooky Cat stamp set over and over to get the wooden look on the planks.  I worried about overlapping the stamp but it looked great whatever I did.

4. Assemble and use the black rhinestones as nails.

You have nailed this card!

Halloween Swap-Merry Cafe

When I first looked at this card I loved the way Cathy combined the punch, and designer paper, with the cup from the Merry Cafe stamp set. But little did I know on first look that this card opens up.

Just pull out the tab from under the cup and you can open the card to this cute inside. This card combines the Merry Cafe stamp set with the Coffee Cafe stamp set from the annual catalog.  Who wouldn't want some Brew with Scream and Sugar!

Aren't these fun cards!  But they are not the only great swaps I received at Vacation Stamping School.  Come back next week to see some more swaps I have received at recent stamping events.

Halloween Swaps-Spooky Cat

   Doesn't this card make you think of Halloween?  I recently went to a stamping event called Vacation Stamping School held in Champaign.  A favorite part of the event is swapping card fronts with other demonstrators.  This week I am featuring the Halloween cards swaps I received.

Spooky Night designer paper- Love this paper.  One side is definitely Halloween, the other can be used on any fall card.

Cat Punch-Did you wonder how hard it might be to cut out this cat?  There is a great cat punch that will cut it out for you.  And one of the designs on the paper is full of cats that you can punch out.

Spooky Cat stamp set-  Cat, witch's hat, owl, poison bottles,and several cute word stamps are included in this set.

Mary Ellen did a great job on this card don't you think?

Scrapbook Your Life with Howl o Ween treats

 

  This was one of the layouts we made in October.  I just love the images in the Howl o Ween Treats stamp set, and of course the fact that they can be cut out using the Boo to You framelits. I used several Halloween items on the layouts

Happy Haunting Match book treat holder

    I love the Halloween paper that is in the Holiday Catalog.  The designs are so cute, like these adorable ghosts.  The great thing about the designer paper is one side is not so obviously Halloween designs so the paper can be used after Halloween is over.  Do you wonder where I get my ideas for some of my projects?  This time the answer is not Pinterest, but the actual catalog.  The projects featured on the pages are there for just that reason, for us to copy and use them.
So if you look on page 46 of the catalog you will see this cute little treat holder.  All I had to do was figure out measurements.

Cut a piece of designer paper at 2 by 8 inches

Score the paper at 1/2 inch, 4 inches, and 4 1/2 inches.

Stamp one of the images from the stamp set called Sweet Hauntings and you are set to go.
It's that easy!

Holiday Home-Technique Tuesday

    When I found this card sample on Pinterest, I knew that I wanted to feature it in my Hooray for Halloween class I had last month.  Each house was stamped in Crushed Curry but only the windows were cut out.  Then each house was cut out using the matching framelit and the windows were added on.  I can imagine making this card seasonal also, by just changing out the colors.  Sounds like a great project for a day with nothing else to do.  Anyone out there have that kind of a day?

I'm Back with Holiday Home-Simple Sunday

 
My stitches are out, and I am walking normally and so glad to be back.  My recovery took a bit longer than I had imagined, but it is so nice to have a straight looking pain-free foot.

This week I will be featuring the Holiday Home stamp set and matching framelit.  I was immediately attracted to this set when I first opened the Holiday Catalog.  I think it was the versatility of the set and the fact it is a photopolymer set.  This card is so simple and CASE'd from Stampin Success the magazine we get each month as a perk for being a demonstrator with Stampin'Up.

Freaky Friends-Scrappin Saturday

  How is this for a final card sample using Freaky Friends?  I used my 1 3/8 inch punch to find 9 circles that featured my favorite parts of the Motley Friends designer paper.  The cat and bats were made with stamps from the featured set, and the saying is from the Good Greetings stamp set.  This has been a fun week for me to play around with a great Halloween stamp set. 

  Next week, I will be featuring My Paper Pumpkin kits and all the alternative cards I have made with the supplies.  I am finally getting caught up.

Freaky Friends-Fix it Fast Friday

     I love Washi tape!  This fast Halloween card made with Freaky Friends will make any one you send it to smile.  Can't you see duplicating this card many times and on each card place on of the images in the stamp set.  Voila you have a cute set of cards ready to go!

Freaky Friends-Template Tuesday

  I like to take a template and use it in many different ways.  I took the template I used yesterday, turned it on its side and then created this card.  This is one of my favorites and here's why....

1. I was able to use a little bit of the tree on one of the pages of the Motley Monsters designer paper for my up and down focus.

2. I stamped all the little monsters from Freaky Friends that I had not used before and decided they might look cute standing on each other's heads.

3. The saying looked cute in a word bubble.

Freaky Friends, Miscellaneous Monday

    Does this cute witch make you smile like she does me? I made this card for the challenge on the Freshly Made Sketches site. 

    Are you wondering how I got such great colors on the witch?  Well, I cut her and the bats out of one of the sheets of the Motley Monsters designer paper that matches the stamp set Freaky Friends. I knew this card needed some kind of a background and decided the Lucky Stars embossing folder was just right.  The saying came from the Good Greetings stamp set that any hostess can get free with a $300 order.
    Look for some more cards this week, made with Freaky Friends this week's featured stamp set.

Halloween Wreath-Fix It Friday

  
   Do you love decorating for the holidays?  I do and Stampin'Up! has been creating wonderful kits that help me decorate fast and easy.  This is the wreath that they created for Halloween.  My friend, Linda, won the kit at convention but really did not care for it so we traded.  She gave me the kit and I ordered items for her from the Holiday catalog that she liked.  Check out this video  what the original wreath looked like.

  I looked at the kit and made a few changes.

1. I inked up the doilies with black ink as described in the directions but really did not like the look so I left them off the wreath.

2. I made the  banner saying which said Trick or Treat and decided it detracted from the cool look of the wreath

3. Finally, I made the spider out of beads which looks hard, but was only a little time consuming.  I placed it on the wreath on the web where suggested but it did not show up well at all.  So, I decided to change where it was placed so that everyone would be able to see how intricate it was.

  What I learned from this experience is make the project you are doing your own.  The directions are just there as a guide (which I always seem to need) and they you can do what you want with the project. Don't be afraid to Fix It Up whenever you want.

Scrappin Saturday-Halloween Layout

I love how one sheet already had Halloween words on it.

     One of the layouts we made in Scrapbook Your Life had to be a Halloween layout since it was October, right.  I wanted to use some of the Witches Brew designer paper, and the Witches Brew washi tape.  Here is the layout I came up with.

It was so easy to add accent pieces with the Witches Brew washi tape.



I had to use the spider web from the Bite Me stamp set.

Now that my pictures are mostly organized I was able to quickly look through them and find pictures of me in costume over the years.  I think they fit into the layout just fine.

Miscellaneous Monday-Halloween Treats

     I had so much fun making up gift boxes for my kids and grandkids for Halloween this year.  First, I made a Halloween banner for each family. 

   Next, I decorated a bag for each grandkid and placed candy that I stamped labels on inside each bag.  The label on each bag had a different Halloween design so there would be no arguments as to whose bag was whose. I made labels for the candy that said

Bite Me
Eat if You DareAnd stamped a skull on a sucker
 I attached each label with the Halloween Washi tape.

 Then I added extra candy inside the mailing box for the grown ups. 

   Wish I could be at all the houses to see the reactions when the boxes are opened.

3-D Thursday, A Halloween Banner

     When I saw a similar banner in the Holiday catalog, I thought it would be fun to make for either a class or my kids.  Well, I waited too long to make up the sample for a class, so I made 3 of these for each one of my kids families.  I knew my son Chris would not want one, but was pretty sure the other 3 would have fun with it.
    I was a little nervous completing the stenciling but it was easy and I had no problems.  The rest was a part of the Halloween Accessory kit.  Can't wait to find out what the kids think of the Halloween surprise I have for them.

Wednesday Wow-Halloween Game

     Several years ago I purchased some patterns from Create with Connie and Mary.  I made some really cute items from the patterns and just set the others aside.  I decided to look through the patterns and found this really cute game.  The box is one of our small clear mount stamp cases.  I made the haunted house to place on the top of the case.  I had great fun using a variety of Halloween stamps to decorate the house. 

     Inside the case is a matching game using all the Halloween stamps I thought would be appropriate.  I think the grand kids will have a great time playing this game. Who would you make this for?

Template Tuesday- Bite Me

     The other day I had to get up in the middle of the night and while I was trying to get back to sleep I designed this card in my mind.  I love the spider web in the latest photopolymer set called Bite Me.  I also tried to create this card for the Freshly Made Sketch for the week.  I embossed the web on the designer paper using the pewter embossing powder.  The spider is also embossed and cut out.  So, I had another thought about an even cooler way to make the web.........

     This time I embossed it on vellum, cut it out and attached it to the card using glue dots.  I think the web stands out more with this look.  I have had so much fun making Halloween cards this year.  I have a plan to send most of them out to lots of people.  Which card do you like the best?

Simple Sunday-New Thank You cards

     I like to include a thank you card in each order.  If a customer orders at least $50 then they receive a token with the card for each $50 they order.  Since Halloween is coming I wanted to use the Best of Halloween stamp set again.  I really like this set. 

1. First I stamped the image and of course had to punch it out.
2. Next, I thought that a black circle would look spooky behind the stamp/
3. What  better way to attach the circles than Washi tape.
4. Finally I added the thank you from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set/

I was able to make 17 cards while one episode of Project Runway aired.  It was one that I had missed while we were camping.

I don't know about you , but I love Washi tape and how cute it looks and how easy it is to use.

3-D Thursday-Halloween Owl treat box

     My friend Linda does a great job of finding cute projects and bringing them to our get together so we can make them.  I love this owl treat holder don't you.

1. Cut card stock 8 1/2 by 2 3/4.  Score halfway and then 1/4 inch each side of the half way mark.  Fold this so that it will create a stand.

2. Using a circle punch create the ears at the top of the owl.

3. Emboss the front of the treat holder with the Fancy Fan embossing folder.  This will look like feathers.  Add punched out images to create the owl look you like.

Use sticky strip to hold the treat holder together.  A small bag of M&M's will fit inside the owl.

I plan to make some to give away to Grandchildren.
