We Must Celebrate- Miscellaneous Monday

Wow what a week last week was!  It started off with a Stamp a Stack for MS.  I had 18 cards with all the supplies in plastic containers for stampers to choose from.  While they were stamping I was in the same room, but keeping busy by cutting my card stock in half to create card bases.  This was an idea I had to save some prep time when make a lot of cards that are the same.

Later Monday evening after the last of the ladies left, I started out with a twinge in my neck that as the evening progressed turned into major neck pain.  When I was thinking about what might have caused this pain, I realized that I was cutting card stock for about 3 hours.  NOTE TO SELF.....Limit the amount of time you cut card stock without stopping.

That time saving event had me putting ice and Heat on my neck for 3 days.  So that explains my lack of posting last week.

I am back full force with my retired stamp set blog.  Now, I loved this stamp set for several reasons.

1. The animals were pretty darn cute.

2. I liked the group together and all the little accents that went along with the critters.

3. My stamping group is called the Super Snails, so I had to have the set for that cute little snail.

I decided the snail needed a card all by himself.  I love the sayings in the Birthday Wit stamp set, and the one about being late seemed appropriate for a slow moving snail. I am pretty good now about getting cards out to people on time, but occasionally forget, so this card will come in handy.

Tomorrow's card shows you how to made a new item from an embossing folder.

Remember, all the retired stamps, card stock, ink and designer papers will be no longer available after May 31st.  So, if there is something you really like you can order it now from my store.  Each item listed below connects to the store to make your ordering a little bit easier.

Picture Perfect Party designer paper-Miscellaneous Monday

Do you like to make a simple easy card?  Well, this card is very easy and here is why.

1. Most of the card is designer paper.

2. There is a simple saying on the card that can be cut out using the Big Shot.

3. A tiny little bow sets off the card.

This is one of the cards that will be featured in my Everything Birthday Card Cafe to be held on March 5th.  So, if you live anywhere near me sign up and come for a fun afternoon or evening.  Need more details, then contact me at sue.scheets@gmail.com.

A new week, and a new chance to win a card by leaving a comment on my blog.  Hope to hear from someone this week.

Tomorrow I am going to show you a card made with a two step stamp.

Daisy Twist and Pop card

Aren't these daisies cute?  And the sparkle in the center are the new Clear Faceted Gems.  This is the front of the card Dina and I made together last Sunday.  The colors of the daisies are two of the new in-colors,  Lemon-Lime Twist (my favorite) and Tranquil Tide.
You may be thinking so what is so special about this card.  Look what happens when you lift up the top layer......

The inside of the card twists and pops as you open it up.  This is simple, but the message is quite clear and bold.  Happy Birthday.  Who wouldn't like to get a card like this.

I hope these cards have made you drool a little about some items in the new catalog.  Come back next week to see what cards I am making with each one of the new in-colors for my In-Color card class to be held in July.

Cool Treats class- Wednesday Wow

What makes this a WOW card to me?

1. The layered stamping on each one of the ice cream treats.  Notice the darker blue outline on the edge of the popscicle.  That to me is a WOW.

2. The addition of some Washi tape as an accent.

3. The edge that has been cut off on the right hand side of the card.  Love how it shows off the paper underneath.

Come back tomorrow to see several cards made with the same template.

Cool Treats-Miscellaneous Monday

What a two weeks I have had!  Travel to Tennessee to see my granddaughter in a play, classes every day when I returned.  I am glad to be back posting on my blog and to my regular schedule.

This week I will be posting cards for my product based class to be held on Monday, March 6th at 12:30 or 6:30.  I will  be using the set called Cool Treats, the matching framelits and the designer paper called Tasty Treats.

Today's card shows off the designer paper and one of the sayings in the stamp set.  Simple and I love it.

Check back tomorrow to see a card from the class that shows the tri-fold technique.

Wednesday Wow-Balloon Adventures

What I love about this card and consider it a wow is that it can be used for several different occasions. I found this clever idea on Amanda Bates blog found here. I love how she cut out the balloons on the original thinlit and added the numbers in their place.

1. New Years card

2. Birthdays held in 2017

3. Any landmark occasion in 2017

The inside of the card just adds to the front.

Come back tomorrow to see how I use 3 ingredients to make several versions of the same card.

Technique Tuesday-Balloon Adventure

Notice the word Celebrate.  It has been embossed onto the white card stock using the embossing folder found in the Occasions catalog called Celebrations Duo. But instead of the embossing being raised as we are used to, the embossing is recessed.  Before I stamped on the card stock it was a white on white embossed image.  As I stamped each balloon the ink went everywhere except where the recessed image was located.  Fun and easy to do.

Come back tomorrow to see a card I found on Pinterest that used this stamp set to create a great card to send out at the beginning of this year and for anyone who has a birthday in 2017. Thanks to Amanda Bates for her great idea.

Miscellaneous Monday-Balloon Adventure

What do you like about this card?  I loved the color combination of Going Grey, Smoky Slate and Melon Mambo.

Balloon Adventure is one of the sets that can be found in the Occasions catalog. There are 17 stamps in the set and 8 dies.  If you love both of these options you can purchase the bundle and save yourself 10% of the cost for both.

If you have checked this out in your catalog you might wonder how I cut out the balloon.  There is no solid balloon die in the set.  Well, this balloon fits the large image of the balloon punch perfectly.  I love it when things coordinate so well.

Come back tomorrow to see a technique called reverse embossing.

Designer Paper-Template Thursday

Can you imagine how many tiny scrap pieces you could use up on this card?  This is called the Herringbone Technique and would make a great youtube video.  I'll add that to my list.

1. Cut 2-3 3/8" by 12 inch strips of designer paper.  ( I used Petals and Paisleys for this card-not available for the offer)

2. Lay strip #1 diagonally from one side to the opposite side.

3. Lay strip #2 perpendicular to strip #1 and off the center mark.  Cut off unused section.

4. On the opposite side of the card lay s\remaining section perpendicular but in a different spot from step #3.

5. Continue with accent pieces until the card is filled.

For this card I left a little bit of space so that the background card stock was able to show through.  I used Festive Birthday designer paper for this card. (This paper is part of the ordering special for October.

Come back tomorrow to see how to add a simple little cut in the designer paper to show off both side of the paper.

Template Thursday-Stampin Celebration

I checked out the Challenge sites I had bookmarked and found this template on Stampin'Celebration! I like going to a challenge site when I feel my creativity needs a boost.

Here is my interpretation of the sketch. What do you think?
Come back tomorrow to see how I fixed some proposed wedding invitations for my son's wedding in Ocotober.

Wednesday Wow-Party Pop-Ups

Everyone loves a birthday right?  Today's Wow is sponsored by the Party Pop Up Thinlit die.  One of the thinlits shows the image above and can be used on the front of a card, or....

added to the middle of the card as a pop-up.

The second image would be great for a birthday or any other kind of congratulations.  It too can be used on the front of a card or .......

also in the middle of the card as a pop-up.  Great looking cards.  Well, I hate to through left over items away and found a way to use the negative images from what was leftover.
The space around the hip hip hooray was perfect for another card.

I used the space around the birthday cake to make another card.

If you like birthdays and pop-up cards this thinlit will meet both of your likes at the same time.  I know I had fun making all these cards and felt like I could keep on going.

Come back tomorrow to see what challenge I will be taking on this week.

Birthday at Knollwood

Last week I went to Knollwood to stamp with my friends that live at the retirement village.  Each lady got an envelope and inside the envelope were the following supplies.....

1. pre-cut designer paper
2. pre-punched flowers
3. 3 centers for the flowers that were attached to a glue dot

I helped the ladies stamp the saying and then punched it out for the card.  Each lady chose which side of the designer paper they wanted to use and made the card look different according to each ladies ideas.
Hank had never come to my class before and told me she could not make any cards because of her arthritis.  I showed her my knuckles and told her I would help.  At the end of the class she had a big smile on her face and told me she would be sure to come to my class next month.

A Card for Debbie

My daughter Debbie had a birthday last week.  I was trying to decide what to get her and then remembered all the gals were going to get pedicures at Thanksgiving time but it did not work out.  So, I decided that would be her gift, but I wanted to be clever about it. This is the front of the card I made her.  I did have to take my sock off to check out what my foot looked like.  And I made sure to look at the foot where I had bunion surgery.

I used the Stampin'Up! Gold Glitz dazzling details for the after picture of her toes.  I am sure she will get a kick out of this card.  I had fun making it.

Happy Birthday Everyone-Hostess Set

What do you like about this card?

1. I like the way the saying is placed on the card at an angle.  I never think out of the box like that.

2. I like how only 1/3 of the card is embossed, I usually emboss the entire card.

3. And of course I like the fact that is uses Washi tape, even on the envelope!

This was one of the 12 cards we got to choose from at Robin's End of Summer stamping class on Saturday.

Celebrate Today

I had a fun day on Saturday with my friend Linda.  We headed out to Springfield for a morning of stamping at an event hosted by my friend Robin.  It was called Summer's End stamping.  Anytime I can get together and make cards with friends is a good day in my book.  This was one of the cards we could elect to make.  You really can't tell but there is some glitter on the dots on the balloon.  Anyone would love to get this card on his or her birthday don't you think?

Birthday Card Buffet-Etch a Sketch

Do you remember the Etch a Sketch?  When I saw an etch a sketch card by serenestamper.com I thought it was so cute and I knew I had to make a similar card to be one of the cards at my Birthday card Buffet class.  Does it look hard to make?  Not so.....

1. Stamp the image on a piece of Vellum cardstock.  Then dry it with the heat tool.  The ink tends to stay wet and easily smudge.

2. Use the framelit from the Project Life Cards and Label set to cut out the middle of the Real Ted cardstock.

3. Layer the vellum on top of a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock and then finish up the card with two 1 inch white punched circles.

Now tell me who wouldn't like to get a birthday card that looks like this?
