Summer Wreath Class

     Summer is upon us and so is the class to make the final seasonal wreath.  Have you ever made a pinwheel?  I remember making them when I was much younger out of any kind of paper I could find.  If you come to this class you will go home with leftovers.

Supplies used

1 Styrofoam wreath I used a 10 inch white

2 strips of muslin torn at 2 inches and wrapped around the wreath so each time the strip overlapped a bit.

12 4 inch squares of Gold Soiree designer paper

straight pins to pin each pinwheel to the wreath

Various colored buttons for the center of each pinwheel.

8 inches of Natural 7/8 inch cotton ribbon for the hanger

Winter Wreath

     Wouldn't you love to have this wreath hanging in your house?  We made this at a class I had a couple of weeks ago.  It is my plan to have stampers make seasonal wreaths this year.  This fall we made the first one you can see here.
My inspiration for these wreaths is page 184 and 185 in the annual catalog.  Can you see the changes I made to the winter wreath pictured?

1. I used the Festive Flurry designer paper and coordinating colors.

2. I made snowflakes out of the silver glimmer paper using the Festive Flurry framelits.

3. I used several colors of seam binding ribbon together to make the bow.  I got that idea from my friend Lana's winter wreath.

   Can you guess what kit I will be using for the Spring Wreath we will make next month?

March framed art-Not a Leprechaun

     What do you think of when you think of March?  Usually, people think of St. Patrick's Day and I have done layouts for my scrapbooking using leprechauns and the work lucky for years.  This time I wanted to do something different. An idea was in the back of my mind, but I was not sure how to get it to reality.

1. I knew I wanted to use some kind of a poem or saying about March so I googled the words March sayings and found one I liked.

2. Next, I knew I wanted wind symbolized some how so once again I googled Wind Art.  I saw the swirls I had imagined  and first tried to cut them free hand.  Big mistake.  The swirls I saw in my head did not appear on paper.

3. Finally, I went to my old reliable stamp set Everything Eleanor because I knew the swirls in the stamp set would be perfect for the wind I wanted to use. If you remember I used the swirls for tree limbs on the December framed art.

4, The lion from the stamp set Zoo Review helped me put the finishing touches on the March frame.

   Here's what I learned.  You CAN take something you imagine and make it happen.  And there is a stamp set out there that will help you, it just takes a little bit of imagination to make it happen.

Frame Art for December and January

     Can you picture where you would put this frame in your house?  I have the perfect spot in my studio.   This is the December framed art selection that people will be making on Friday night and Saturday at my house.  Can you find all the items I used to make this picture?

1. The swirl from Everything Eleanor was used to make the stylish branches.

2. The ornaments were made using the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and cut out using the Holiday Ornaments framelits.

3. The decorative outlining strips were made using Season of Style designer paper.

4.  The Woodgrain embossing folder was used on Early Espresso coredination card stock.

5. Finally, the merry was created using the Expression Thinlit.

         Are you tired of snow?  Well, this picture will give you the look of snow without the mess. I used the following to create the January framed art picture.

1. Festive Flurry stamp set and framelits

2. Snowflake from the Festive Flurry Ornament Kit

3. Winter Frost designer paper

4. Words created using My Digital Studio and printed out on my computer.

   I love how great these pictures look in the frames I found at WalMart.  I can hardly wait to design the art for February.

Fix it Friday-Thankful frame art

 

 

 

     Do you love putting seasonal decorations up as much as I do?  In fact, I love to put up monthly decorations.  Last month in my Hurray for Halloween class we made a great frame art picture. The picture was created so that it could be taken out of the frame and stored till next year.  Here is the frame art for November.  I used a design from Create with Connie and Mary as my inspiration.  Here are the changes I made.

 

1. I changed the picture from a square frame to a rectangular frame.  No square frames in my town.

 

2. I used a different color scheme for the background papers.

 

3. I had loaned out my leaf die cut so I used some already cut out ones that were not the right color.  Instead of panicking, I decided to use heat and stick powder and our wonderful gold glitter.

Scrappin Saturday-Using up Scraps

    
     Today is the day that I was hoping to have a new scrapbook layout to share.  But, I don't quite have one ready.  So, I thought scrappin could also mean using little scraps of paper for a project.  So that is what I did.  Linda came over and we made these darling snowmen treat holders.  Can you see all the scraps we used?  Do you wonder what we have inside each little snowman?  Well, we used Kit Kat mini bars, but anything that size would fit in just fine.
