Lift Me Up-Technique Tuesday-Watercolor with an Embossing folder

Does this look the sky or the ocean to you?  For my technique club this month we made a card using a technique I called Water Coloring with an embossing folder.

1. Choose an embossing folder that has a distinct background and foreground.

2. For this card I wanted my color to be on the background.  When you open the folder you need to find the side where the background is raised.  This is where the color will go.

3. Lightly press a variety of ink pad over the raised portion.  I used Soft Sky, Pool Party and Marina Mist.

4. Spritz water over the inked portion of the embossing folder.

5. Gently lay your cardstock over the wet portion being careful not to move it, fold your embossing folder and emboss.  When you open up your folder your paper will look like this.

We had so much fun at my last downline meeting using all the embossing folders I had on hand to see how this technique worked

I reversed the process for my card for today and inked up the part of the folder that make the ridges to see how it might come out.

You can see how the lines of the folder are colored and the rest of the paper is mostly white.

Come back tomorrow to see a Wow card using more items from the Lift Me Up stamp set.

Lift Me Up-Miscellaneous Monday

Doesn't this card make you feel like you are lifted up a little?  This is another bundle that I love from the Occasions catalog.  There are 16 stamps and 15 Thinlits to cut out most of the designs.  Don't you love it when the stamps and thinlits match.  It makes card making so much easier.  Here are the coordinating items used in this set.

1. Lift Me Up stamp set

2. Up and Away Thinlit dies

3. Carried Away designer paper

You might wonder why you cannot find this designer paper in the Occasions catalog.  That is because it is one of the free items you can earn in the Sale a Bration catalog.

Here's how you can do that....

Order the bundle for $45.75 Clear Mount and then add to your order a Package of Whisper White envelopes for $6.50 and you have enough to receive the designer paper for free.

On Thursday, March 30th I will have a class where you can make 12 cards similar to the one I have featured using this bundle.  The class will be free if you order the bundle.  Contact me for more information.

Come back tomorrow and the rest of this week to see some more ideas on how to use these items.

Cool Treats-Template Thursday and Fix it Friday

If you saw yesterday's post I now have 17 cutting plates for my Big Shot that are absolutely flat.  Well worth the time spent baking yesterday.

This is one of the cards we will be making March 6th in my Cool Treats class.  I used it as a template to make some similar cards.

1. Same size card

2. Same saying on each card

3. Same banners

4. Washi tape on each card

For the first card I used Irresistibly Floral designer paper and embossed it with some pool party ink.  I tried to make it look darker as I went down the card face to give it the Ombre look.

For my background on this card  used a different paper in the Tasty Treats designer paper pack.  For my accent I used the matching framelits to make a yummy looking ice cream cone.  Chocolate of course. This paper is embossed in certain areas.  You can see the shiny area on the card.  Those are the areas that are embossed.

Different designer paper, color palate, and a large Popsicle as the accent.  This design is embossed and could be brayered with an accent color.

The final design.  I  could have made several more switching designer papers, accents pieces and even sayings.  A fun and fast way to make several similar cards.

So, today is Fix it Friday.  I took one card from the class and changed the look of it for 2 other cards that are alternate sizes.

A square looking card with ribbon wrapped around the card base.

A standard sized card.  I left off the ribbon and added some washi tape.

A gift card sized card. I used baker's twine instead of ribbon and make the bowl overlap the saying.

It has been a fun week and I hope teased you with how much fun the Cool Treats class might be to attend.  Let me know if you are interested in attending this class.

Come back next week when I will explore the stamp set Lift Me Up.

Stamping Break-Baking Day

It was time for my Christmas Through the Year class and I would be using the big shot quite a bit and this is what my cutting plates looked like.  I decided it was time to take action and start baking.

1. I wrapped each cutting plate in aluminum foil making sure the folded edges did not touch the plate.

2. I placed the wrapped plate underneath a casserole filled half way with water.  I made sure the casserole was completely flat on the bottom with no ridges.

3. I cooked the cutting plate for 20 minutes ( I have a hot oven, it might take 25 minutes in another oven) at 325 degrees.

4. I took the wrapped plate out of the oven with an oven mitt, then waited before I unwrapped it.

Isn't this amazing!!!  I have been baking all day and now have a wonderful pile of flat cutting plates.  No need to order new ones when you can bake them like new.

Come back tomorrow for some more stamping where I show you how to take one card and fix it up 2 additional ways.

HAPPY BAKING!

Cool Treats class- Wednesday Wow

What makes this a WOW card to me?

1. The layered stamping on each one of the ice cream treats.  Notice the darker blue outline on the edge of the popscicle.  That to me is a WOW.

2. The addition of some Washi tape as an accent.

3. The edge that has been cut off on the right hand side of the card.  Love how it shows off the paper underneath.

Come back tomorrow to see several cards made with the same template.

Cool Treats Class-Technique Tuesday

Doesn't this ice cream cone look good enough to eat?  This card looks like a simple open the card up and look inside fold, but it is actually a triple fold card.  What do I love about this stamp set and matching framelit?

1. Every image has its own thinlit to help you cut it out easily.

2. There are thinlits that place scoring lines on the cone so that it ends up with a 3 dimensional look.

3. There are an amazing 36 stamps in the set and 17 matching thinlits.  Quite a bargain.

Come back tomorrow to see a WOW card made with this set.

Cool Treats-Miscellaneous Monday

What a two weeks I have had!  Travel to Tennessee to see my granddaughter in a play, classes every day when I returned.  I am glad to be back posting on my blog and to my regular schedule.

This week I will be posting cards for my product based class to be held on Monday, March 6th at 12:30 or 6:30.  I will  be using the set called Cool Treats, the matching framelits and the designer paper called Tasty Treats.

Today's card shows off the designer paper and one of the sayings in the stamp set.  Simple and I love it.

Check back tomorrow to see a card from the class that shows the tri-fold technique.

Scrapbook Week-Festive Birthday designer paper

What pictures would you put on these pages? Cammie put some pictures from a family dinner at a Mexican restaurant.  Fun way to use these pages.

I have a class once a month that I call Scrapbook Your Life.  In the class each person makes 2 two-page spreads.  I provide all the supplies including 2 plastic sleeves each month.

Then, if they bring the pages back the next month with pictures on the pages they receive a surprise gift they can use in scrapbooking.  It might be a piece of designer paper, or some embellishments as a way of saying Hurrah you did it.

Supplies used in these pages:

Festive Birthday designer paper
Birthday Fiesta stamp set
Fiesta Time Framelit

A close up of the accent piece on the right hand page.
These items are stamped onto the designer paper for added texture.
Scrapbooking with stamps is a great way to get some really good layouts.  Come back next week to see samples of projects I will feature at my Occasions catalog Open House to be held on Friday February 17th and Saturday, February 18th.

Scrapbook Week-Candy Cane Lane designer paper

This paper just made me smile when I saw it in the Holiday catalog.  So, I made cards and finally scrapbook pages out of the images. Here are the items I used from the Holiday catalog to make these 2 pages.

1. Real Red 3/4" stitched ribbon
2. Candy Cane Lane designer paper
3. Real Red 12 by 12" card stock

The tiny images were easy to cut out and the peppermints were punched out with my 1/2" punch.

Come back tomorrow to see a layout I made with the Festive Birthday designer paper.

Scrapbook Week-Forever Evergreen kit

How did I make this tree?

1. I took one of the pre-cut trees from the Forever Evergreen kit in the Holiday Catalog and cut it in half along the score line.

2. I used the items in the kit that were intended to be used to decorate the tree and decorated by scrapbook pages.

3. I cut the pom pom trim so that when the pages were laid next to each other the trim matched.

This was a fun way to use the items for the 3-d tree in a different way.

Come back tomorrow to see how I used the Candy Cane Lane designer paper to make a really cute layout.
