Designer Paper-Fix it Friday

I love the blue and white colors of this designer paper called Floral Boutique, one of the designer papers that are in the special that ends Monday.

For this card I made a slit in the side of the designer paper and folded it back so that both sides of the designer paper were showing.  I cut out one of the flowers on a sheet of designer paper for the accent and the saying is from the coordinating stamp set called, Floral Phrases.

Same paper just reversed to accentuate a different side of the paper.

A different sheet of the card stock, rotated 90 degrees.

Same angle with the paper flipped over.

There are lots more ways to use designer paper that make your card making simple and attractive.  Have fun trying some of your own designs.

Come back on Monday to see what Holiday stamp I will be featuring next week.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Designer Paper-Template Thursday

Can you imagine how many tiny scrap pieces you could use up on this card?  This is called the Herringbone Technique and would make a great youtube video.  I'll add that to my list.

1. Cut 2-3 3/8" by 12 inch strips of designer paper.  ( I used Petals and Paisleys for this card-not available for the offer)

2. Lay strip #1 diagonally from one side to the opposite side.

3. Lay strip #2 perpendicular to strip #1 and off the center mark.  Cut off unused section.

4. On the opposite side of the card lay s\remaining section perpendicular but in a different spot from step #3.

5. Continue with accent pieces until the card is filled.

For this card I left a little bit of space so that the background card stock was able to show through.  I used Festive Birthday designer paper for this card. (This paper is part of the ordering special for October.

Come back tomorrow to see how to add a simple little cut in the designer paper to show off both side of the paper.

Designer Paper-Wednesday Wow

What a wonderful renewing week in the Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois!  So today for my Wednesday Wow and to highlight designer paper, I decided to try a torn paper collage to show what my impressions of last week were.

Can you see.....
  The fallen leaves
  The quiet stream
  The towering trees
  And the bright sunny days?

I used Petals and Paisleys ( not a part of the designer paper special)
By the Sea ( yes you can order this one)
This Christmas ( not a part of the special)
Festive Birthday ( you can order this one also)

Come back tomorrow to see a way to use up lots of scraps using several different kinds of designer paper.

Remember that October 31 is the last day for the Buy 3 Get the 4th free special on Designer paper.  Make sure the ones you order are $11.00.

Designer Paper-Technique Tuesday

I got a week ahead of myself and this did not post yesterday so here it is today.

Can you see what the technique I used on this card is?  I placed the  designer paper inside an embossing folder, and then lightly sanded the raised areas.

1. The embossing folder is called Holly and can be found in the new annual catalog.

2. The designer paper is called This Christmas and can also be found in the annual catalog.  It is NOT a part of the designer paper sale but is quite a bargain at $13 as it contains 24 sheets of paper instead of the 12 that normally come in a Designer paper pack.

3. I used the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set for the Holly image and the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set for the greeting.

My husband and I are off for several days of camping in the Shawnee National Forest, so I will continue with Designer Paper cards starting next Wednesday with a WOW card.

Designer Paper-Miscellaneous Monday

Did you know there is a Designer Paper special going on right now with Stampin'Up!  Buy 3 designer papers priced at $11.00 get a 4th paper for free.  This is one of my favorite specials of the year.  So, this week I will be featuring different ways to make use of designer paper.

1. Use the paper as the main focus of a card. I used Moroccan. I love the color combinations.

2. Add a simple saying and accent that use the colors in the paper. I chose Dapper Denim as my card stock color, and one of the sayings from the Suite Seasons stamp set.

3. I felt the card needed something else so I used the cute copper acorn embellishments to finalize the card.

You can order your own designer papers by clicking on the store at the top of this page.

Come back tomorrow to see the technque I used on the designer paper.

Wedding Shaker card

Judy, the bride, loves the color purple, so I decided I needed to use some Elegant Eggplant on the card I would attach to the wedding present.  I have loved making shaker cards and knew they will love the card.

In the process of getting ready to head out to Ohio, I forgot the card and left it at home.  My son, loved our present but said he was a little disappointed in the card attached to the gift, a generic card from the Dollar Tree.  After all, how can you make 90 invitations and not make the card for the present. Now, I get to mail the card and they will be able to appreciate it all by itself.

Blooms and Bliss Designer paper

Lots of purple, pink and silver hearts made from the Confetti Heart border punch,

Jar of Love stamp set and matching framelit.

Come back next week to see some more cards featuring items from the Holiday Catalog.

Wedding Invites part 2-Using the scraps

For some reason I made a pile of all the corner punch outs I made on all the cards.  And being the comic that I am I sent a text picture of them to the bride and groom telling them there were 144 punched corners.  My son also is a comedian so he told me Judy wanted me to save them so she could make boutonnieres for the men out of the corners.  You can guess what I did....

Pretty soon this picture appeared on my phone

Yes, Judy had made some flowers on tooth picks out of the corners.  Well it did not end there.

Judy is very crafty herself and made trays like this for all the tables at the reception and on each tray were candles and glass containers.  She did however have a special arrangement for the table set aside for my family.

There on the tray at my table was this cute little container with all the corners at the bottom and the little flowers Judy had made arranged around the edges.  I loved it.

So now at home on top of my jewelry case I have this arrangement.  Inside the etched vase are the corsages my husband and I wore at the wedding.  So,the lesson I learned through all of this is to never throw anything out, because you never know what you can make with it. (Don't tell my husband I said this)

Come back tomorrow  to see the card I made to accompany my wedding gift.

Wedding Fun-Handmade Announcement

I am finally back to earth after a wonderful weekend where my oldest son got married.  Back in May the happy couple asked me if I would consider making the invitations.  Would I?  I had been meaning to ask them if they were interested in me making them.

After texting pictures of several different samples this is what they chose.  It was great fun to make them as one of my gifts.  Several of the products I used are now retired; the lace, and the stamp set.

Come back tomorrow to see what I did with all the corner rounder scraps.

Halloween Fun-Test Tube treat holder

It was so much fun to open the September Paper Pumpkin kit and see the test tubes...16 of them.  And then to try and think of many different ways the tubes can be used.  One was to put some Halloween candy in the tube.  Then I found a video by Dawn Griffin that showed how to make this cute and easy treat holder.  We will be making this and the last treat holder in my Halloween Fun class.

This has been a fun Halloween Week.  I am off to see my son Brian get married.  It will be a fun-filled family time weekend.  Can't wait.  An extra perk will be seeing most of my grandchildren at the same time.  Hope your weekend will be a good one also.

Come back next week to see what I will be posting then.

Halloween Fun class-Rice Krispie treat holder

My friend Linda came over one day last week and showed me this great treat holder she found on Pinterest posted by Lisa Rhine. It is so easy to create.

Cut your black card stock 2 by 11 inches and score at 5 and 6 inches.
It is now ready for the scalloped tag topper punch.

Cut the Rich Razzleberry 2 by 6 1/2 inches and score at 2,3,5 and 6 inches.  It wraps around the black and holds your treat inside.

Decorate any way you wish.  I used the Cookie Cutter Halloween and Spooky Fun stamp sets.

Come back tomorrow to see another treat bag.

I wanted the circle and the shaker items to look like the moon.  This fun set is called Spooky Fun and has lots of fun items to use for fall or Halloween.  I especially like the rugged looking tree.

Come back tomorrow to see one of the treat holders we will be making at Halloween Fun.
