Card Cafe Creations-Colorful Seasons

Can you picture this card made with Berry Blast, Crushed Curry and Dapper Denim?  This design would be so simple to create in each of these colors. Why these particular colors?  They are the featured colors in the Color Theory designer paper stack.

Sign up for this card cafe if you are in the Jacksonville, Illinois area and make the card I featured yesterday free.

Tomorrow's card features the branch from this set, the flower framelits and sponging. Come back to check it out.

Card Cafe Creations

Isn't this a great WOW card.  It was designed by Sarah-Jane Kale`.

There are several great layers on this card.

1. A strip of the Color Theory designer paper.
2. Two different framelits from the bundle, the branch and the leaf.
3. Stamped images, and matching ribbon.

Together they make a great card that everyone attending the card cage can make it they RSVP by Thursday, August 31st.

Tomorrow's card would be easy to recreate in the 4 colors that are featured in the Color Theory designer paper.

Card Cafe Creations-Colorful Seasons

Do you wonder how the leaf color is made so varied?  It is created using the Baby Wipe technique. You will be able to make 2 of this card at my Cafe Creations class on Monday, September 4th.

I received this card as a swap at a Vacation Stamping School in Champaign at the beginning of this month.  And I loved it.

1. Take a Baby Wipe or two and layer them in a shallow container.
2. Drop a variety of re-inkers onto the Baby Wipe.  This is now your ink pad.
3. Press your stamp onto the Baby Wipes and then onto your card.  You can reuse these Baby Wipes over and over again re-inking if they seem a little dry.

What a simple great idea to make a simple but stunning card.

Tomorrow I will show off the card you will be able to make one of if you RSVP by Thursday, August 31st.

Halloween Swap-Merry Cafe

When I first looked at this card I loved the way Cathy combined the punch, and designer paper, with the cup from the Merry Cafe stamp set. But little did I know on first look that this card opens up.

Just pull out the tab from under the cup and you can open the card to this cute inside. This card combines the Merry Cafe stamp set with the Coffee Cafe stamp set from the annual catalog.  Who wouldn't want some Brew with Scream and Sugar!

Aren't these fun cards!  But they are not the only great swaps I received at Vacation Stamping School.  Come back next week to see some more swaps I have received at recent stamping events.

Seasonal Chums, the pumpkin from the Holiday catalog
Spooky Cat from the Holiday catalog
Cat Punch from the Holiday catalog
The bats from the set called Sweet Home from the annual catalog

The door from the set called At Home

When the door is opened you see more items from the various catalogs

The spider web from Sweet Home

I love all the layers of this card that Margo made and swapped with me.

Tomorrow I will show off a card I swapped that was made with the Merry Cafe stamp set from the Holiday catalog.

Halloween swaps-Spooky cat

Check out this background for the owl stamp.  It is another section of the Spooky Night designer paper.  If you want to make some easy cards, then cut out the branch, stamp the owl and there you go some easy Halloween cards.

This card may look simple, but when you open it up.....

It becomes an easel card.  Isn't this cute.  I love the little saying with the eyeballs that has been used in the center. The new stamp called Labels to Love has been used as the background for the eyeballs. It can be punched out with the new punch called Everyday Label Punch.

So, you should never judge a card by its cover.

Tomorrow I will show you a card that is made with several different items from both the Holiday and the Annual catalog.

Halloween Swaps-Spooky Cat

Doesn't this card make you think of Halloween?  I recently went to a stamping event called Vacation Stamping School held in Champaign.  A favorite part of the event is swapping card fronts with other demonstrators.  This week I am featuring the Halloween cards swaps I received.

Spooky Night designer paper- Love this paper.  One side is definitely Halloween, the other can be used on any fall card.

Cat Punch-Did you wonder how hard it might be to cut out this cat?  There is a great cat punch that will cut it out for you.  And one of the designs on the paper is full of cats that you can punch out.

Spooky Cat stamp set-  Cat, witch's hat, owl, poison bottles, and several cute word stamps are included in this set.

Mary Ellen did a great job on this card don't you think?

Tomorrow I will show you another way this set can be used.

Everything New card Buffet-At Home with You

When I made this card I wanted the door to be the focal point and I wanted to show off the Wood Textures designer paper.

1. The door is cut out with a thinlit and the window part of the door is also.  There is another piece I did not use on this card that will make the door so it can open to reveal something on the inside.

2. I love the message at the side of the door.  Can't you think of  a few people that message applies to and they are not necessarily family.

3. I thought this might be a good card to send to a male.  It seems I have a lot of cards and stamps that have a definite female look to them so this card appealed to me as one to send to a special male in my life. My husband is the one I think of immediately.  We have an anniversary coming up in October and I think he would love this card.

What a fun week this has been sharing the cards that were offered in my card buffet.  Next week I will be sharing cards made with items from the new soon to be current Holiday catalog.  When I looked at that catalog I wondered how I would be able to afford all the stamp sets I love.  Come back on Monday to see some of my favorite items from the Holiday catalog.

Everything New card class- Lemon Zest

How do you feel about the new in-color Lemon-Lime Twist?  As you can tell by cards I make, I love it.  It is vibrant, colorful and stands out on any card you place it.  Have you also noticed that it is a popular color in clothing right now.  That is how Stampin'Up! decides what the new in-colors should be.

1. Parts of this stamp (the lemon and the leaves) can be punched out.  Yea love it when I don't have to hand cut items.

2. There are actually 6 lime slices on the background piece.  3 are made full strength and 3 are stamped before reinking the stamp.

3. The little strip of Foil Frenzy Specialty designer paper actually has some strips of Lemon-Lime color in between the black.  I thought it was gold until I got a really close look.

Can you tell I gravitate towards simple cards.  You don't need much on your card to make it stunning.  This card was created by my upline Robin who had all the supplies ready for us to recreate the card.

The final card for the week will be make using the set called At Home with another matching thinlit to help cut out the items in the set. Come back tomorrow to see it.

Everything New card buffet-Lovely Inside and Out

What catches your eye with this card?

1. The colors 2 of which are new in-colors.  Lemon-Lime Twist, and Berry Burst.

2. The hugs and how it seems to float on the page.  When you made the card you find out the secret.  (It has to do with the matching thinlits)

3. The boldness of the color combinations.

Thanks to a card sample posted by Sarah Newick from Essjay cards I was able to create this card.

Tomorrow I will feature a card we made at a Butterfly Friends meeting a month or two ago featuring the Lemon Zest stamp set.

Everything New card buffet-Coffee Cafe

I looked all over the stamp set for the coffee image when you spill or drip your coffee.  At first I thought maybe I had already misplaced one of the stamps, and then I looked at the designer paper.  Cute!

1. The designer paper is called Coffee Break and I love the colors: Early Espresso, Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky, Soft Suede, and Whisper White.

2. The leaves surrounding the saying are cut out from one of the sheets of designer paper.

3. The copper ribbon is also new to the catalog.

This makes for a simple but cute looking card and was created by Dawn Olchefske.

Tomorrow I will feature a card made with the Lovely Inside and Out stamp set and matching thinlits.

Everything New Card Buffet-Lovely Friends

Have you ever been all set to do something and then you can not get on the Internet for some unknown reason.  Well, that happened more than once last week to me.  But glad to say the Internet is now up and running so here comes some great cards this week.
I had an Everything New card buffet last week and have chosen 5 cards to share with you.  Most of the items are new.

1. The stamp set is great with sayings and cute 2 step flowers.  Lovely Friends is the name.

2. The Color Theory designer paper stack is the background of this card.  If you have not ordered this yet, on of the things I love about these 6 by 6 paper stacks is they are not attached with that gummy label on the bottom.

3. The card was inspired by a posting on Pinterest by Billie Moan of Rambling Rose studio.

Tomorrow I will show off a card using the Coffee Cafe stamp and Coffee Break designer paper.

Carols of Christmas-Fix it Friday

This card looks good with the designer paper and the poinsettas that are stamped on the center panel.  But is there a way to make it look great?

Can you see the changes I made to the card to step it up a bit.

I used poinsettas, but actually cut then out with the thinlits that coordinate with the stamp set.  If you have this set you might be puzzled as to how I did this because there is not poinsettia thinlit.

This is the piece that I used to create the stunning border.  The center poinsettia is the same as the stamp and if you line it up carefully it will cut the flower out for you.
As much fun as I had this week making and sharing these cards, believe it or not I still did not use all the pieces that available to use between the stamps and the thinlits.  Consider making this stamp set your own.  And it you earned any $5 coupons in July you can take that $5 off the cost of this set.

Next week I will be featuring one of the sets that will be a part of my Everything New card buffet to be held on August 7th.  I would love to have you there with me if you are local.  Just contact me and we can get things organized.

Carols of Christmas-Template Thursday

This is my template for the week...

1. Card stock base Crumb Cake
2. Designer paper layer Woodgrain designer paper stack
3. Designer paper strip Be Merry designer paper
4. Saying from Carols of Christmas
5. Tiny accent From Carols of Christmas and cut out with coordinating framelit.

You can see how I used the same template, just varied the saying, the tiny accent and the colors of the designer paper.  The card base is Cherry Cobbler.

Same template, just used Garden Green as the card base and varied the designer paper and accent that I used.  I think I could have gone on and on and designed more cards with this template.  It would work with any stamp set and coordinating designer paper.  Try this out for yourself and see what you can come up with.

For Fix it Friday I will show how using the stamp alone creates a great card, but you can really step it up with you cut out your image with a Big shot.

Carols of Christmas-Wednesday Wow

Why did I pick this card as my WOW card?

1. The Fresh Fig color is not a typical Christmas color.

2. The ornaments are cut out with the Big Shot and even though they are stamped as a group, they are able to be separated.

3. The string the ornaments are hanging from give this card a very different look.

I found a card very similar on Pinterest and posted by Karen Robinson, who runs a blog called little-paper-party.com.  Thanks Karen, for a great new color idea.

Tomorrow I will show you how to take one look and turn it into something that can be used with a lot of cards.

Carols of Christmas-Technique Tuesday

Are you curious about the background of this card?  It could be designer paper but is not.  I made a stencil using two of the framelits that coordinate with the stamp set.

Then I sponged in each tree until it created the desired background for the card.  I think I will have to try this with other stamp sets because I enjoyed the look it created. Today is the first day that you can order this bundle for yourself.  Contact me if you are interested or have any questions and I will be glad to help you out.

The card I am featuring tomorrow will use unusual Christmas colors and several other features of this stamp set.  Come back to see what it looks like.
