How to Fix a Boo Boo

Do you ever make a card and then right at the end make a mistake that seems to ruin the entire card?  That is what happened with this card.  Right at the end I smudged the Blackberry Bliss heart.  I starting groaning about making the whole card over when I decided to add two more hearts.  Voila, a cute card and no one will ever know that I made a mistake.

I needed a second card similar to the one on top for a class I was going to have in June and right at the end when I was placing the greeting on the card made another boo boo.  This time I stamped the saying on an extra piece of card stock , cut it out and placed it over the boo boo. Easy peasy.  How do you fix your mistakes?

New In-Colors for 2014-2016

Hello Honey
Every year StampinUp comes out with new in-colors.  These colors are fashionable and trendy and stick around for two years.  At a recent Jubilant Butterflies meeting we made card samples for each one of the colors for the next two years.  We used a new stamp set called Work of Art for the card designs.
Tangelo Twist
Mossy Meadow
Lost Lagoon

Blackberry Bliss

Wouldn't it be great fun to be the one to name the new colors?  Which one of the new in-colors do you think will be your favorite.  Personally, I really like them all.  They remind me of fall colors which I tend to gravitate to normally.

Scrapbook Layout for the Rain

What kind of pictures would you put on a layout that has umbrellas?  I wracked my brain trying to figure that out for my April layout.  I finally decided on some pictures I took of the fancy hose system my husband rigged up when the sump pump in our basement which is also our bedroom, froze.  This is a wonderful story we will want to remember in the years ahead.

I made this a hybrid page by using My Digital Studio for the umbrellas.  Here is a close up of the umbrellas.

Steps used to make the umbrella

1. I did a search to find the umbrella image.
2. I changed the size of the image so there were 3 different sizes.
3. I copied each image so I ended up with 2 of each size.
4. One umbrella of each size was cut up to be the pattern for the designer paper.  Then I filled each panel of the umbrella to create the pattern you see.

The clouds were stenciled on the sides of the pages with 3 different blue inks.  The rain drops were punched out of silver glimmer paper.  The final accent was a rhinestone on each raindrop.

Pucker Up for the Last Time

Have you ever seen a pink lemon?  I wondered how this might look, but really wanted to use the Primrose Petals card stock.  I think it turned out okay.  One of my stampers said she did not have anyone to pucker up for, but I thought, it would not have to be a husband or boy friend.  You could pucker up for a special niece or nephew, a grand child or even your elderly parent.

Retiring items:
Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit card stock
  Midnight Muse designer paper
Crazy Mixed Up Love stamp set

Remaining items:
  Whisper white card stock
  Regals candy dots
  Polka dot embossing folder

I know just the person I will send this card to, how about you?

Retiring Washi Tape

I love Washi tape.  I think it adds a nice focal point to a card, and is easy to use.  These 3 tapes are retiring from the SU catalog so I wanted to get some more use out of them. When I made this card I wanted the word smile to be the top word on the card, but I noticed there  was too much white space above the word.  So, I reached for some punches and fixed the card right away.

Retiring items....
Gingham Garden washi tape and designer paper
  Happy Day stamp set

Items remaining......
Whisper White and Melon Mambo card stock
   Melon Mambo ink
   Rhinestones
Who can you make smile by sending them this card/

May Framed Art

Do you love having monthly projects to look at?  I do, and have been having a great time creating a framed art project to use each month.  This is the 8th month I have been doing this.  The ladies that come to the class are enjoying each month's project.

I used a scrapbook layout as my inspiration.  When I get pictures on the layout I will post it.  Here are the supplies we used if you want to create the project for yourself.

Watercolor Wonder designer paper
Pansy, Petite Petals, and Chevron punches
Oval framelits
Flowering Flourishes stamp set
My Digital Studio
Gumball Green ink pad
Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango, Gumball Green markers

I am thinking roses and butterflies might be a great idea for the June framed art.  What would you use?

March Paper Pumpkin

I love the look the wooden accent pieces give to the card.
One of the two original designs that came with the kit.

So glad to be back after having a non-functioning computer for over a week.  It is amazing to realize how dependent I am on a computer.  Did not realize it until I could not use mine.
So, I am so proud that I have kept up with all my paper pumpkin kits from the past few months.  These are the cards I made from the March kit.  It was bigger and better, something Stampin'Up! is trying to do with the kits.  This month there were 8 cards to make.  Of course I went online to see what designs I could find to alter the kit designs.  Here is what I came up with.

I only inked the arrow stamp once to get the various colors.  Love how it looks like I used several different colors.

Washi tape can always dress up a card.

Shelli Garner the CEO of SU showed us how to use some of the envelope liner to accent the front of the card.  Notice how the saying has been cut in two.

What would you do with this kit?  Now, I am curious what the kit for May will be like.  It is never too late to join Paper Pumpkin.  Just click on the link and if you want to join I would love to have you join under me Sue Scheets.  Glad to be back.  Look for regular entries until the next computer problem. :)
