Carols of Christmas-Miscellaneous Monday

  Do you love Christmas as much as I do?  I have a Christmas Through the Year card class each month.  I create one design and the stampers who attend the class make 3 cards from that design.  When the year is over they have 36 hand made Christmas cards to send to friends and family.  Fun!
  This set called Carols of Christmas is from the new soon to be active Holiday Catalog.  The great thing about this set is that it can be ordered in August.  This is a great way to get started on making your Christmas cards, and for me a great way to get a new design into the hands of my stampers.
  We made this card at one of my Butterfly Friends meetings with Robin.  I love all the parts of the bundle that are used in this card.  Tomorrow I will show you how I created a stencil from the framelits that match this set and used it in another great Christmas card.

Wednesday Wow-White on White Christmas Card

   Do you think the look of white on white is a wow?  I love the elegance of this card.

Wednesday Wow-Floating Trees

 I love this card and how the trees look like they are floating in the air. I could not find an official name for this technique so I am calling it the floating trees.

Part of the front of the card is cut off, the cut off section is shortened and the trees hold the entire card together.  This card is featured in my Christmas Through the Year card class to be held Thursday at 12:30 and 6:30.  Each person who signs up makes 3 cards just like this one.  When they are finished they will have made 9 Christmas cards ready to mail in December 2016.

Wednesday Wow-Lovely as a Tree Christmas card

     Does this card look like it might be difficult to make?  Well, it isn't.  Stampers came to my house last Thursday and made this card in the Christmas Year Round card class.

1. Emboss a piece of vellum using the Softly Falling embossing folder.  

2. Stamp the trees in Mellow Moss along the bottom of the extra piece of white cardstock, and on the envelope and in the inside of the card.

3. Make the banners using the triple banner punch. Stamp some snowflakes on the banners to add some color.

4. Stamp the sayings, and add some bling and silver twine and your card is finished.

    How does the new tool connect to the first card we will make in my Christmas Throughout the Year class?  Come to this class on Thursday, January 28th and find out.

Flurry of Wishes- October Christmas card

     I love snow, but am not ready for it yet, so I can at least stamp snowflakes.  This card was the Christmas Through the Year card that was featured in October.  I was easy and featured a color combination I usually don't think about at Christmas.  The general consensus was that everyone liked the combo even thought they did not think about it either.
    Don't you love the accent piece. 

First off the new Snow Flurry punch made it easy to create the snowflakes.

Secondly the fact that both snowflakes are on one stamp made it faster to stamp the background.

Finally, using a sharpie to color the White Perfect accent purple to coordinate with all the colors of the card.

   So let it snow, but just on a greeting card for now.

Christmas Through the Year-Lovely as a Tree

    

     I love my Christmas Through the Year card class.  It is my favorite holiday and I get to think about it every month of the year.  Each month the ladies, I  would welcome some guys but so far none come, make 3 cards from the same design.

   I needed a last minute idea for the card for July due to some bad planning on my part.  I thought for a bit and decided to check out my convention swaps for ideas,

    This is the card I swapped with Jody my downline.  I checked my supplies and had to change some things.  Do you see what I had to change?

1. I have not purchased the Lots of Labels thinlits yet so I used the ovals.

2. I wanted some texture on the background so I embossed the background with the stars embossing folder.

3. I did not have enough of the Cherry on Top paper stack to use so I used the Pretty Petals paper stack.

   Thanks to Jody and her great card idea, I had a design for my Christmas card in a really short time.  Swapping is created for just that reason.

Christmas Through the Year-Festival of Trees

    Now it is time to start a new Christmas Through the Year class and this card designed by Georgeann Manning will be the first one we make in January.  What do I love about this card?

1. I usually do not think of using black for a Christmas card but this card jumped right out at me because it was black and white.

2. The touch of red with the cardinal gives this card the bit of color it needed to be make me think of Christmas.

3. The silver background paper and the silver balls on the tree on the left gave it just the right amount of sparkle.

Christmas Through the Year-Gentle Peace

 
  Merry Christmas One and All!  I hope you have a special day with your family and friends.  If you do not celebrate Christmas I send you my wishes for a day of peace with those you love.  
  Once a month Stampin'Up! issues a new photopolymer stamp set often designed by staff members.  I loved this set as soon as I saw it and featured it as our December card.  The card also features the stained glass technique.  Very fitting since the design of the stamp is stained glass.

1. Stamp desired image on Vellum card stock using versa mark. Make sure to dust the card stock with an embossing buddy before using the stamp.

2. Emboss the image using black embossing powder.

3. Turn card stock over to the back side and color in the image using Blendabilities. Flip back over to the front of your card and your design resembles stained glass.

Christmas Through the Year-Santa from some punches

     Doesn't this card just make you smile?  This was a swap I got from my friend Dina Lanzendorf at convention.  Everyone that made this card had such a good time and commented that it was not as hard to make as it looked.  Can you tell what punches were used/

Christmas Through the Year-Choose Happiness

     Sometimes just a touch of color can make a card look elegant.  I received this card as a swap at convention from Becky Achten and immediately knew it would be a card we would make in Christmas Through the Year.  The leaves are colored in using an Aqua painter and Pistachio Pudding ink. The sparkle on the tiny berries is made using some Silver Dazzling Details.  Use caution with the Dazzling Details and make sure to allow plenty of time for the dots to dry.  So, assemble your card first before adding the final details.  The saying was made using Good Greetings.

Christmas Through the Year-Wonderful Wreath

  Wouldn't you love to sit down to send your Christmas cards and find that you had 36 handmade cards ready to go?  Well, last January I started a new class I called Christmas Through the Year.  One time the class met in Jacksonville in my home, and the other time the class met at Godfather's Pizza in Springfield.  I had so much fun creating and finding designs for the cards and the stampers loved seeing their pile of handmade Christmas cards grow and grow.  So, we are keeping it up this year.

   This was the card we made in September.

Christmas Through the Year -Fix it Friday

     This was the Christmas card we made in August in my Christmas Through the year classes.  Where did I get my inspiration you might wonder?  Well, I looked through the Holiday catalog and found a card sample made with this same stamp set Endless Wishes.  See if you can tell how I fixed it.

 

1. I change the color scheme to Coastal Cabana and Smoky Slate.

 

2. I used Washi tape from the Sweet Sadie and Beach House collections.

 

3. I placed the silver ribbon on top of the Beach House washi tape using my silicone pad and my snail adhesive.

 

4. I stamped the greeting below the washi tape instead of above the washi tape. I found it easier to evenly place the words.

 

Don't forget to try copying or slightly changing the wonderful card samples you can find in our catalogs to fix them your way.

 

 

Fix-It Friday-Christmas Change Up

   Wouldn't you like to find this card in your mailbox a few weeks before Christmas?  Well, the stampers that have been coming to my Christmas Through the Year classes were able to make this card in July.  It was simple to make and fun to color in.  One of the ladies that has been coming to my class is visually impaired and the color would have been virtually impossible for her to do.  So, I thought and talked to Vicki about an alternative technique that she could use.

   And this is what we came up with.  We used one of the stamps from the Work of Art stamp set to create a colorful background that simulated the marker colors the other stampers used to color in the letters. Then Vicki stamped the saying on top of the background and embossed it in the same way everyone else did.  The final card looked just as good as the original design.  In face I like this card just as much as the first design I made.  Which card do you like the best

Christmas Through the Year for May/June

   Thursday is the day that I go to Springfield to make Christmas cards.  This is the card they will be making. And just to get everyone a little excited for the next card, which we will make in Jacksonville at the end of May.  Here it is.

     Last Thursday was the second month of Christmas Through the Year in Jacksonville. They made the first card posted.  The ladies in Springfield will make this card on Thursday, March 13th. Once everyone has made that card they will have 6 Christmas cards ready to go. 
   The second card is the card everyone will be making.  I love the look of all the silver.  When I was searching Pinterest for some card ideas I found this card designed by Mary Brown.  I love her style.  Check her out on her blog called Camper Stamper. Chrtistmas Through the Year-A New Card

     Why am I showing you a Christmas card in February?  This is the card sample that stampers will be making in my Christmas Through the Year card class in February.  How does that class work?  I create one design, you make 3 cards that are like the design.  I hold the class once a month and anyone can attend any time.  This month I will be holding the class in Springfield for anyone who wants to attend there.  We will be making the first card I designed this month in Springfield. Christmas Throughout the Year

     Wouldn't you love to be prepared for Christmas early enough that you can relax and enjoy yourself?  Well, I am starting a class called Christmas throughout the year.  It will take place once a month and be very simple for everyone involved. Check out my website for the details.  This is how the class will run.

1. I will create one Christmas card design a month.

2. People will sign up to attend and make 3 copies of the same card.

3. In one years time people attending will have 36 Christmas cards ready to go.

   I love how this first card turned out.  The wreath is made using the Daydream Medallion stamp set and matching Floral Frames Framelit. Where did I find red rhinestones?  I made them using a Sharpie marker. 

Hint of the Day:  Sharpie markers are the only marker that will not rub off of the rhinestone or pearl once they are dry.
