Sewing instead of Stamping

My daughter who lives in Tennessee is visiting this week without children or husband and we are making a quilt top for her bed at home.  This is her 4th year of spending her spring break from teaching with me and the 4th quilt top we will be making.  I have decided to take this week off my blog to enjoy her visit.

See you April 1st.

Make is Simple Monday-Use Your Scraps

Recently, I was using the thinlit from the Butterfly Beauty Thinlits dies page 13 in the Occasions catalog and had this piece left over.  Since it was centered on a piece of card stock I just could not throw it away.  So, instead I made a simple card from my scraps.

Here's how....
  1. I selected designer paper to go behind the cut out.  In this example I used the Botanical Butterfly Designer series paper from the Sale a Bration catalog.

 2. I chose a card base color I thought would go with the Grapefruit Grove butterfly cut out.  In this case I used Calypso Coral.

3. And that is how I made this simple card.  You can use any element that is left over from cutting out your thinlit or framelit.  Just follow my simple step and voila you will have a great but simple card.

Share your example on my Facebook page Stampin with Sushi and I will send you this card or a card like it.

Tomorrow, I will be posting a surprise video.  Come back to see what it is.

Have a great day, and enjoy the prospect of Spring.

What's New Wednesday-Paper Pumpkin

Have you heard of Paper Pumpkin?  Are you a subscriber?  Do you like a great deal?  This might be the thing you are looking for.

Paper pumpkin is a kit you receive in the mail once a month.
All the supplies are included except scissors, to make at least 8 items a month.

This card was one of the kit cards from the February kit.

This was a second card from the kit.  There were enough supplies to make 9 cards, three of each design.

This was the third card.  In the kit was an ink spot, and in a 12 month period the spots will never be duplicated.  Sometimes there are even 2 spots in a kit.  Spots are a great way to ink up the items on the Stamparatus. Also included in each kit is an exclusive stamp set that is photopolymer.  Your first kit includes an acrylic block to use with your stamps.

I order 2 kits a month so I can make scrapbook layouts for my Scrapbook Your Life class.  This is the layout for this month.

A closer look at one of the accent pieces.  To order Paper Pumpkin you can click on this link, which will take you to my Paper Pumpkin page.

The special for March is 2 stamp sets.  This is the 6th year that Paper Pumpkin has been around.  You need to make your order by March 10th if you want to receive the March kit.

Contact me at sue.scheets@gmail.com with any questions and I will be happy to help.

Consider subscribing to this fun orange box to be delivered in your mailbox.

Tomorrow I will be posting a video now that I have figured out how to get it right side up.  Yeah Me!!! Come back to check out Card samples from my Butterfly Friends meeting that featured the Stamparatus.

Happy Stamping,

Fun Friday

Are you like me and if you looked at this card you would wonder if you could line up the vases that well?  No wondering needed, because I used a Stamparatus which made is quite easy.  I made this at the Butterfly Friends meeting we had in early February.  We made several different elements that can be used on a card with about 7 different Stamparatus techniques.

Our challenge was to take the element we made and create a card.  I am always up for a challenge.

This is what I came up with and here is what I wanted to do with my card.

1. I wanted to use the colors of the pots as the background for the card.

2. I wanted to place the element on a black piece of card stock to accentuate the pots.

3. There was a little extra space next to the pot on the right so I thought it would be a perfect place to put the saying.

It was fun to create this card.  Now, I am anxious to see what the other Butterfly friends did with theirs.

You too can try a challenge for yourself using leftovers from a kit, or extra punches you have saved.  Post your picture on this site and share your design with the rest of us.

Monday, I will be sharing another Make it Simple card.  Come back and try one for yourself.
