Thanks and Farewell

My hubbie and I had a great time in Cobden, Illinois, hiking, relaxing and enjoying each other's company.  Our trip was to celebrate 35 years together.

Since I have been back home, I have done some thinking and decided to stop my blog posts for an undetermined amount of time.  I will still continue to post projects on my Facebook business page Stampin with Sushi, and on my customer group page Sushi's Stampers, but no longer do a daily blog.

Sometimes, I have to just sit down and figure out ways to simplify my life. And this is the one I have decided on right now.  I appreciate all the people that have visited my blog over time and hope you will visit my Facebook pages.

  Best Wishes to everyone,
Sue Scheets alias Sushi

Happiness Surrounds-Wednesday Wow

Happy Halloween!  My husband and I usually leave our light off and go downstairs to watch TV.  He does not enjoy the constant ringing of the doorbell.  I may stay upstairs for a bit and hand out the last of my Paper Pumpkin treat bags.

I saw a similar card on Pinterest and thought it was quite the WOW card.  When I looked closer I noticed the creator had cut out all her images on the Big shot and glued them as the background of her card.  It was lovely.
I decided to try and use the new to SU Big Shot embossing pads.  They are awesome.  I layered the flower thinlits according to the directions for using the mats and instead of cutting out the flower it embossed them in the background.

Tomorrow, I will share a 3-D card with you using more of these great stamps and thinlits.

My husband Sam and I had a great trip, and decided we might like  to travel Illinois and try out more Bed and Breakfasts.  Sounds like fun to me.

Have a great day,
Happy Stamping,

Happiness Surrounds-Technique Tuesday

This may be the last technique for a while that you can use a Stamparatus for.  It is called the plaid technique.

1. First you stamp your image several times using the hinge technique.  I used one of the stamps from the set called Touches of Texture.  I stamped it in Soft Sea Foam ink which does not show up very well.

2. Then you turn you card stock 90 degrees and stamp again using the hinge technique.  I used Pear Pizzaz this time.

For the accent piece I used several of the thinlits in the Snowfall set. I love how the Snow is Glistening stamp set, the Happiness Surrounds set and the thinlits all coordinate together.

Tomorrow, I will share a WOW card that uses the Big Shot embossing mats to create a stunning background for a card.

I usually make my technique video on Tuesday to show the steps you need to take to make the plaid, but will be returning from our trip sometime late today, so look for the video tomorrow.

Till then,
Happy Stamping,
Sushi

Happiness Surrounds-Make it Simple Monday

Ink, Paper, and stamps make this a very simple card.  This is the stamp set called Happiness Surrounds and is the second set in the Snowflake Showcase exclusive offers which starts Thursday and lasts till the end of November.

I decided to use the neutrals for the colors of the card.  I don't know if you have noticed, but there are 3 colors now in the neutral family  Mossy Meadow, Merry Merlot, and Night of Navy. Don't they look great together!

Tomorrow I will share a card I made using the Stamparatus and the Plaid technique. Come back to see how easy this technique is.

I made this post earlier last weekend, because my husband and I are spending a few days in the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois at a bed and breakfast to celebrate our 35th anniversary.

I hope you all had a great weekend and will share this blog with your friends.

If you did not have a chance to do some stamping then maybe you can find time to do some today.

Have a great day,
Sushi

Snow is Glistening-Fun Fact Friday

A little dab 'll do ya.  So if you like doing things a little out of the ordinary, then this is a fun fact for you.

You notice that I painted a dab of shimmer paint in the center of each snowflake, in the back ground and on the tree.

Did you also notice the little dots of shimmer paint on the tag and on the background?  In case you have never done this before here is how I did it.
First I put a small amount of shimmer paint in an empty embellishment container.

Then I added a little bit of water along the edge of the container.

I thinned the shimmer paint out, dipped my paint brush into the paint, then tapped it on my finger.  That created the little dots.  Now, that was fun.

Are loving this stamp set and framelits yet?  Well, next week I will feature the second stamp set that is a part of the Snowflake Showcase special offer.  The stamp set is called Happiness Surrounds, and is meant to be used for any occasion.  The great thing is many of the images in this set can be cut out with the Snowfall thinlit dies.

So,have a great weekend, and find some time for some stamping.

Snowfall Thinlits-3-D Thursday

If you guessed that my 3-D item made with snowflakes, might be an ornament then you guessed correctly.
First I cut out 6 of the largest snowflake using the new White Velveteen sheets.  The paper is thin enough to cut easily with the big shot.  I thought the paper might be thicker.

Next, I folded each snowflake in half making sure the velveteen side was on the inside.

The next step was to put glue on the solid part of the snowflake and glue two together.  I kept adding a snowflake until I was glue the last and first snowflake together.

There was a hole in the center that I slipped some twine through, tied on a couple of snowflake trinkets on the ends, and added a dab of glue to keep the knots tied.

I thought the ornament needed a finishing touch, so I painted some glimmer paint on each tip.

It didn't take me too long to make, and I see this being a great gift to make for Christmas.

Fall has arrived in Illinois.  The evening temperatures get down to the 30's and daily I notice the colors of fall coming out on the trees in town.  That is my favorite part of fall.

Have a great day, Enjoy the change of the seasons.
Happy Stamping,
Sushi
