Punch Art Bookworm Card-Miscellaneous Monday

Fall was the theme for the Fill Your Cardbox class this month.  As I was thinking about all that fall involves, I thought of school, colored leaves, Thanksgiving, and Halloween.  I searched the internet for some basic ideas and found this adorable book worm. Here's how I made him.

1. Punches, oval and circle punches of all sizes. The blacks of his eye is from the cupcake punch.

2. Eye glass ear holders ( not sure what these are really called) are made by punching out one word window, discarding the actual punch and then punching a little above the hole that was made.

3. Background is the Typeset designer paper, the dictionary page.

This just makes me smile and I am sure will make the recipient smile also.

Easy Peasy Background-Simple Sunday

Doesn't this look like it might be hard to create?  Well, it qualifies as a simple card. I got the idea for this card when I noticed one of the blog entries from my friend Julie Davison.  Check out her card here. The background is made with one of the stamps in the Work of Art.

1. Ink up the stamp using a different color each time to create the look of fall.

2. Stamp the trees from Lovely as a Tree stamp set and the saying from For All Things using Early Espresso Ink.

3. Assemble your card

Now, how simple is that, but in my opinion very striking. I might have to use this technique on a different kind of card.

For All Things stamp set-Miscellaneous Monday

It sure feels like fall today, one of my favorite seasons.  This card also makes me feel like fall.  It is one of the featured cards in my Fill Your Cardbox with Fall cards class that is happening today at 12:30 and 6:30.
You might wonder where I got the idea for this card?  Well, as a demonstrator I receive a magazine once every two months called Stampin Success.  It has lots of good ideas that help me become a better demonstrator.  This was one of the cards featured in the latest addition of the magazine and I loved it.

1. The colors, Hello Honey and Blackberry Bliss

2. The simpleness Washi tape, stamp, button and thread.

3. The stamp set For All Things that made the design easy to reproduce.

This is another template that would be so easy to duplicate.  Look for tomorrow's post to see how I changed it up.

A Golden Birthday card

Can you tell what kind of ink I used to make this card? If you thought gold, then you were correct.  I love the simple elegance of this card that I found on Pinterest.

1. I used Gorgeous Grunge for the paint splatters

2. The stamp set is Mosaic Madness with the matching punch.

3. The ribbon and cardstock are Crushed Curry which is a good match for gold don't you think/

4. The saying was done using Label Love and the matching punch.

This is one of the cards I am featuring this month in my birthday card classes. Check out the different places I will be stamping on my website.

Fix it Friday

The card on the bottom was one of the featured cards at my Fall Fill Your cardbox class.  It is cute and uses the Best of Halloween stamp set.  But, Leigh Anna, who was at the class really needed a get well card so we used the pumpkin from the Best of Autumn stamp set for the following adaptation.  I love how easy it is to take one card and just change up a few things for a totally new look.  Which card do you like best?

Template Tuesday-Judy's design

I received this swap at convention and loved the simplicity of the design and the colors.  It was just the card I wanted to feature in my Fall Fill Your Cardbox class.
Judy is one of my regular stampers.  She had never tried to make a card in her life and came to a party several years ago.  At the party she had fun and ordered an address stamp.  I had mentioned the monthly classes I hold and Judy started coming to them.  She realized how much she enjoyed making her own cards and slowly has started collecting stamps, inks, and paper. Now, she has become a designer in her own right and I love to see her interpretation on things.  She changed up the card I presented in card class and made it her own.

And that is what I love about stamping.  Each person can look at a design and create his or her own look from the design.  I like the changes that Judy made to the original card, what about you?

Fix it Friday

When I was getting my cards ready for my Fall Fill Your Card box class I found this card that I really liked.  However it featured a lot of retired card stock which I don't keep.  So, I made the following switch.

Can you see the changes I made?

1. I switched the ribbon to Always Artichoke seam binding.

2.  The colors that I changed are Cajun Craze, and Crushed Curry.

3. I stamped a different stamp set from the set Gently Falling on each layer so that the stampers would not have to keep cleaning off one stamp.

4. We had lots of need for the Big Shot on the other cards we were making so I left off the scalloped edge from the embossing folders called Adorning Accents.

You can see how easy it was to change up parts of the card without altering the final image.  What would you change on this card/

Envelope Liner Scarcrow

Thursday afternoon my friend Linda came over for some stamping time.  I love it when I can just create with a friend.  She had found a card sample of Stampin Connection, a site for demonstrators, and wondered if we could try and recreate it. I think this card is so cute how about you?  Here is a link to the demonstrator's blog  that created the card.  Do you notice what the base of the card is made from?  The envelope liner.  I never would have thought of using it in this way.  So clever.

Linda and I used the Sweater Weather designer paper for all the hat, brim, bird and sunflower.  I would have to say about this card what my grandson said about a book I bought him one time.   Love it, Love it, Love it!
