Family seemed to fill my time this summer and I really loved seeing everyone. But I missed my blogging and am really glad to be back.
One event I love to hold every summer is my Hostess Appreciation Brunch. I invite any one who is hostess at a party the past Stampin'Up! year, any club member, and any one who had a party order. This year the number of people who attended the brunch was small, but we had a great time.
Brunch was Oven Pancake, with fresh peaches and a choice of beverages. Next was an auction of 3-D items from the past stamping year, and finally everyone made an exclusive make n take I never repeat during the year.
First we made an envelope box using the envelope punch board. I used some extra retired designer paper that was just perfect for the project.
Next we made some cards to go inside the envelope box using the Gold Soiree designer paper. Each person was able to personalize the cards with an initial.
We each made 5 cards which fit perfectly into the box, then tied a ribbon around the box to keep it shut and act like a belly band, and finally added some of the wonderful retired roses we carried a couple of years ago as an accent piece.
We each talked about ways to make this project for friends and family and ended our day with lots of fun and inspiration.

I have been out of my stamping mode for several days now because I was enjoying a visit from 3 of my grandchildren ages, 3, 5, and 10. Abby, the 10 year old, has stayed behind by herself and was as ready to craft as I was. She will be helping at my Hostess Brunch and thought up the idea of making napkin rings for the brunch table. This is what we came up with. I used a lot of new product for this project.

I have been eagerly waiting for the platform and it is everything I was hoping it would be. The rest of the flowers and leaves we will be cutting out will be so easy. Abby is even able to position the framelits over the images with instant success and no help from me.
We have a few more to make up so I am off to stamp with my granddaughter. (a little bit of heaven)
A fun part of the Hostess Brunch each year is finding a make n take that will be easy and fun to make. I never do this project at any other time of the year so I want it to be something the hostesses will enjoy having. I found the pattern for this notebook online. Don't you just love the new designer paper called Gingham Garden. It is so bright and cheery and just makes me happy looking at it.
There are two pockets on the left side. I can see stamps in one pocket and receipts in the other. Under the middle section is a notebook with matching pen. The size is perfect for carrying in your purse. Don't you think the hostesses will enjoy making this cute project?
It is almost the end of another StampinUp year and what a year it has been. I like to thank anyone that has had a party or has ordered the equivalent of a party with a hostess brunch. And I have been doing so for 6 years. It is a really fun afternoon with a lot of activities planned. This year the brunch will be on Saturday, June 15th from 11-3.
1, Of course a brunch. Every year I plan a different menu, and some years the food I prepare is a brand new recipe for me also. So far, no problems.
2. An auction complete with bidding paddles, and SU money. I auction off all the 3-D items I have created for classes over the past year. It is great fun for me to see which items are the most popular.
3. A hostess only unique make n take that I never use in a class. The mold is broken with this event.
4. Included in the invitation is a VIP pass to my annual retired items garage sale. Hostesses get to come the night before the garage sale is open to the public and shop till they drop.
Last year my granddaughter was staying with me at the time of the brunch and entertained the guests with stories of her younger brother and sister. She is now 11 so who knows what stories she will decide to share with the guests.

What exactly is a hostess brunch? Well, each year right around the time of the new catalog I have a hostess brunch for anyone that hostess a party in the past year, or had a book party, or ordered a private order that equaled a minimum party order. So, what happens at the hostess brunch?
1. First of all you get to eat a wonderful meal that changes each year. Last year it was yogurt parfaits with homemade breads and fruit.
2. Secondly, you get to participate in the annual auction of 3-D items that have been featured in my classes the past year. You bid with StampinUp money.
3. Thirdly, you get to create a project that is unique to this event. It will never be offered as a class. Last year we made stamp organizing boxes. This year we will make 4 cards and a cute box to hold them.
4. Finally, you get a VIP garage sale pass that allows you to shop at my annual 50% off garage sale. That means you get to shop for one hour the night before the garage sale opens to the public.
