Rolling Re-inkers part 2

Does this look like the same technique called rolling re-inkers?  Well, it is but the embossing was done with white instead of black and the image has a lot more open spaces.  Check Sunday's post here to see the steps and try it for yourself.  It is one of those wow moments in your card making experience.

Rolling Re-Inkers-Club technique

I love fall leaves!  And this new leaf stamp set called Vintage Leaves has a matching framelit which makes it so easy to use.  When I was looking for new ideas for my technique club I reeducated myself to the rolling re-inkers technique. I was wondering if it would work with the leaves which have more details in the stamp than I would normally use, but I think it worked out well.

1. Stamp your image with versamark and emboss with black or white embossing powder. Make sure to use Shimmery White cardstock.

2. Spritz your embossed image with water so that each area has water floating on the card stock.

3.  In a lid or on a plate place a dot of re-inker for each color you want to use on the card.  I used Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Crumb Cake.

4. Dip the tip of an aqua painter into the re-inker and barely touch it to one section of the stamped image.  Amazingly the re-inker will float on the water into one of the embossed areas.  Continue with the colors until you like the look of each section.

5. Let dry naturally or use your heat tool to dry the card.  The results are such fun to see and every card looks so different.

Check back tomorrow for another example of Floating re-inkers and start looking at your own stamps to see what you can use for this amazing technique.

Layered Letters-New Catalog card buffet

I think these letters are  so much fun when layered with the background stamps provided.  Another simple card that is so much fun to make.  Since the background stamp had to be used over and over again, I had little stacks of wet ones handy to clean the stamp each time.

You've Got This-New Catalog card buffet

Did you look at this card and wonder how the background got on the card?  At first I did and then I realized it was done with masking.

1. Stamp the flower image on a large post it note then cut it out as close to the edge of the image as possible. This is your mask.

2. Stamp the flower on the front layer of card stock.  No, not the flower first you might think to yourself.  What is she thinking?

3. Place the mask directly over the stamped flower image so nothing shows.

4. Now, stamp the background image on top of the mask.

5. When you lift the mask off, this is what you will see.  I think the result is stunning.

New items

Tip top Taupe ink and card stock
Mint Macaron marker and card stock (Does the spelling of macaron seem off to you?)
Delightful Dijon marker

The Seniors and stampers at the library had fun making this card.  So can you.

I think You're Great-New Catalog card buffet

Simple can be great. I like the look of a simple card and this one foots the bill.  Only 3 items on the card, but the card uses 4 new catalog items.

Mint Macaron ink-one of the new in-colors
I Think You're Great stamp set
Banner Triple punch- I used it on each end of the banner
Cherry on Top designer paper stack

Once a month I do a card class at our local library and at the Senior center in town.  In order not to have lots of cards to create each month, which would be lots of fun, but also be
time consuming, I use some of the cards from my card buffet at the library and senior center. I try to choose cards that would be easy to reproduce with varying levels of difficulty.  This is one of the cards they will be making this month. What would you change about this card?

Vintage Leaves-New Catalog Card Buffet

I love things that match.  And this stamp set called Vintage Leaves has a matching framelit which makes it so easy to cut out the details of each one of the leaves in the set.  I picture using this a lot for fall layouts, or cards.  What I like about this card is that it is not made using fall colors and still the leaves take on an elegant look.

New catalog items

Vintage Leaves stamp set
Leaflets Framelits
Gold Metallic Thread

I spritzed a little all over the finished card using rubbing alcohol and Mossy Meadow re-inker.  What color would you use to make this card?

Friendly Wishes-New catalog card buffet

Where do I go to find 10 ideas for cards each month?  Pinterest of course!

1. First, I search for card samples made with the stamp set I want to use.

2. Then, I browse the samples and pick the ones that jump out at me.

3. Finally, I recreate the card exactly how it was made and make a note of the creator, or I tweak the card by changing up the colors, stamp set, or designer paper.

New Catalog items

Friendly Wishes stamp set
Delightful Dijon card stock
Boho Chic embossing folder
Bohemian Designer Series paper

For this card I want to thank Janet Murden from the blog stampstodiefor for her wonderful creation. Would you change this card to make it your own or keep it just like Janet made it?

Sprinkles of Life-New Catalog Card Buffet

Doesn't this look good enough to eat?  This cute card was made using the new Ronald McDonald stamp set.  I think it is one of the cutest designs SU has created for the McDonald charity.

This card was one of the 10 cards featured in my monthly card buffet.  How does a card buffet work you might wonder? Just like a food buffet you browse the cards offered and make as many as you like of as many cards as you like.  The cost? Just $2 a card. Check back tomorrow to see more of the buffet items.

Gift Bag Punch board

Are you a fan of the punch boards that SU carries?  I personally really like them.  So, in our preorder, I ordered the new Gift Bag Punch board.  This bag was the last item people who came to my Open House were encouraged to make.  Can you see all the new items that were included in the bag?

1. Gift Bag Punch Board, the bags can be made in 3 sizes and can be any height you wish.

2. Banner Triple punch.  The knotched edge of each banner was punched out with the new punch-1" 1 1/2" and 2" widths.

3. Cherry on Top dsp paper stack was used for the banners.

4. The ribbon is the new 1" Dotted Lace trim which comes in all the new in-colors. I used the Mint Macaron color.

5.The bag base is the new in-color called Watermelon Wonder.

6.  The blossom accent is new and also comes in the new in-colors. I used the Delightful Dijon blossom.

7 Finally the accent piece was created using the new stamp set I Think You're Great which features the kissing technique.

I think everyone who came to my Open House had a chance to put their hands on a lot of the new catalog items.  What would have been your favorite item to make?

Sprinkles of Life-Ronald McDonald stamp set

Are you familiar with the Ronald McDonald House?  The year I started as a demonstrator at Stampin'Up! they started working with the Ronald McDonald House Charities.  Here is what they do.....

1. They donate $100,000 a year to this charity.

2. They create an exclusive stamp set that last for one year only.  $3 from the sale of each stamp set also goes to this charity.

3. Demonstrators all over the country work in the houses and organize events for the families who are staying at the houses.

4. In the time SU has been working with them they have donated well over 1,000,000 to the charity.

So, to support this work, I purchase the stamp set each year and create a project using the stamp for my Open House.  This year's stamp set is called Sprinkle of Life.  SU even has a punch that coordinates with the stamp set.

Here is how I made the card.

1. I turned the tree on its side for a branch.

2. I stamped the leaves and then cut a little nest out of the leaves.

3. I punched out two clouds and sponged the edges with Soft Sky ink.

I found the idea for this card on a SU video, and everyone got to make the card and a matching envelope.  What do you think of this year's set?

New In Colors bookmark

Do you look forward to seeing what the new in-colors are each year?  I know I do but when I see them in the catalog it is not the same as seeing them first hand.  So one of the first things I order are the new in-colors.  I have my open house customers make something with those great new colors.
I watched a video of the Stampin'Up! convention in Australia and loved this project they demonstrated.  So an in-color book mark was one project for my Open House this year.  Can you tell what the new items are from this bookmark?

New in-colors
    Watermelon Wonder
    Tip Top Taupe
    Cucumber Crush
    Mint Macaroon
    Delightful Dijon
Wouldn't you love to be one who gets to name the colors?

1" Dotted Lace Trim ( also in the in-colors) It is easy to tie and lay flat, very soft and much different than I had imagined from the picture.

Layered Letters ABC  There is also a rectangular shape that the letters can be layered on top of in addition to the circle.

Everyone wanted to make this bookmark and loved the colors.  Come back tomorrow to see what the next project was at the Open House.

I'm back with a new catalog!

Wow! what an adventurous couple of months I have had.  I think life is back to normal, as normal as it can be.  To help me get back on track I had my annual New Catalog Open House this weekend.  It was great fun sharing all the new products with my stamping friends.
What is one of the first things you do when you get a new catalog.  Here is what I like to do......

1. I highlight all the stamp sets, punches, framelits, and Big Shot dies that I already own, so I do not order doubles.  Have you ever done that?  I know I feel kind of silly when it happens so I try to make sure that it will not happen again.

2. I make tabs for each one of the categories listed in the catalog table of contents so I can go to the section I like quickly.

3. I add a few more categories of my favorite areas...
       Color
       Ribbon
       Punches
       Index
and this year I added a tab for kits.

This is one of the stations I have at my Open House that several people like to stop at. This year anyone who RSVP'd that they would be coming had a bound catalog waiting for them.

Check back tomorrow to see what else we did at my New Catalog Open House, and yes I will be making a post tomorrow!  Glad to be back.
