Fill Your Card with Love

Has it really been a week since I have posted.  Sickness, 80th birthday for my hubby, Open House for the Occasions catalog, and a couple other classes have kept me occupied.
This card was one that was featured in my Fill Your cardbox with Love class. So simple.  The hearts are punched from the Stacked with Love designer series paper stack.  The saying is from the You Plus Me stamp set.  Both items can be found in the Occasions Catalog.  Now, who can I send this card to?

Elegant Congratulations

One of the designer papers I sometimes overlook is this one called Natural Composition.  It is already embossed in clear designs.  I think it helps make this such a simple but elegant looking card.  Lots of fun elements are used here.  The pearls make the card look feminine, but leaving them off and using a different accent border could change the card and make it look masculine.
NOTE:  The embossing at the top of the card was done using the Framed Tulips embossing folder.  The card measurement fits nicely inside the border so only one line of the folder shows on the cardstock.

Supplies
Night of Navy, Whisper White  card stock
Night of Navy ink
Natural Composition designer paper, Regals Designer paper stack
Framed Tulips embossing folder
Pearls
Sassy Salutations stamp set

This is the last card that is featured in my class coming up on April 21st called Fill Your cardbox with Congratulations cards.  Contact me on my website if you are interested in attending. www.sushi.stampinup.net , or email me with any questions at  sue.scheets@gmail.com.

Colorful Paint Splatters

Gorgeous Grunge was one of our convention stamps last year and I have to admit I was a little disappointed.  I wasn't even sure what to do with it.  But now, it is a favorite.  I creates great accent pieces on a card like this one. Can't you see making this card and just changing the sentiment?

Supplies
Gorgeous Grunge, and Itty Bitty Banners  stamp set
Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, and Pacific Point ink pads
Pacific Point, Whisper White, and Pumpkin Pie card stock
Island Indigo baker's twine
Pacific Point candy dots
Bitty Banners framelit

Who would you send this card to and for what occasion?  I think I might send it to Abby for her part in the local spelling bee.

Banners and Flowers

Do you like using designer papers?  I like to use them because they coordinate so well with each other.  For this card I used the Retro Fresh DSP for everything except the smallest flower.  And the great thing about using the DSP is I could have created this very same card using different papers or different DSP all together and then see a different looking card.

Supplies
Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set
Retro Fresh designer paper
Banners Framelit
Blossom and Pansy punches
In Color Boutique Details
Baked Brown Sugar card stock

What colors would you use to recreate this card?

Graduation congrats

I don't know about you but I love the colors of this card.  The black and grey together are very sylish.  Perfect card for a graduate male or female.  Can you image making the same card and instead of black and grey using the school colors?

Supplies
Blue Ribbon stamp set
Basic grey ink
Black, Basic Grey and Whisper White cardstock
Metallic brads
Polka-dotted ribbon (retired)

Congratulate with Butterflies

Have you ever had an occasion come up and wish you had a card ready to go?  My Fill Your Cardbox class can help with that problem.  Each month we make 5 cards geared to a specific occasion.  This month it is Congratulation cards.

I found a card I loved on Pinterest but needed to change up the colors.  So, I went to my color  coach and found that Pool Party and Bermuda Bay were recommended as colors you could use together.  I love the results, how about you?

Pool Party Designer Series Paper Stack
  Butterfly punch
  Papillion Potpourri stamp set

Sale a Bration Card

Did you notice that almost everything on this card came from the Sale a Bration promotion?

1. Decorative Dots embossing folder-This was the first thing I ordered.  I love the size of the dots and the randomness of the location of each dot.

2. Sweet Sorbet designer paper-Every side of every sheet appeals to me and that does not usually happen with designer paper.

3. You're Lovely stamp set-Great for adding color to.  I love to color, so would emboss the design and then go to town with my coloring.

Other items on the card that are not from the Sale a Bration brochure.

1. Deco Label framelits

2. Pool Party card stock

3. Crisp Cantaloupe card stock

4. Doilies

5. Markers

What would you purchase to help you get one free SAB item and help you make this card your own? Do you want to make a card like this for yourself?  Then, come to my Fill Your Card Box with spring cards class on Monday, March 17th at 12:30 or 6:30.  Click on this link to RSVP on my website.

Petite Petal punch card- A Touch of Spring

There is something so appealing about small things, babies, kittens, butterflies, and tiny punches.  I saw a card very similar to this on Pinterest.  Yes, I do go to Pinterest a lot for inspiration.

1. I love the small flower punch and matching stamp set called Petite Petals.  This is one of the neat bundles in the Occasions catalog. When purchasing a bundle you actually save yourself 15% off the cost of purchasing the items separately.

2. I love the rainbow colors of the flowers.  I actually have my clothes in my closet organized by color.

3. Isn't the background of lines just the added touch for the card.  Can you guess where they came from?  The are part of the stamp set called Gorgeous Grunge.  When I first saw the set I was not impressed, but it is the first one I go to when I want something great as a background.

This card is one of the featured cards for this months Fill Your Cardbox class.  The cards will be spring-like to get us ready whenever the season decides to come.

Dress Form Birthday

Do you ever forget about something you enjoy using?  I was that way with this dress form framelit.  When I started looking for female birthday card ideas, I found one using the framelit and that made me realize how much I really like using this. But, to make the card my own, I knew I needed to change a few things from the original card design.

1. I wanted a delicate looking Designer paper design and found this one in the DSP called Etcetera.  Most of the designs in this set are big and bold, but this design was just what I was looking for.

2. The dress form is stamped in Versamark with the flower from the Happy Watercolor stamp set.

3. The ribbon, saying, and flower accent are made using Pool Party color.

What female would not love getting this card for her birthday?

Sale a Bration card for a birthday

Don't you love getting free items? This stamp set called Petal Parade is one of the free stamp sets you can receive with a $50 order during February and March. Here's why I love this set.

1. All the stamps coordinate
2. Easy to use
3. Doesn't need much added to it to make a complete card.

What would you order so that you could receive this stamp set for free?  Come to my Fill Your cardbox class and make this as one of your cards.

Coordinated card

Have you ever stressed over how to coordinate items to make a card?  I have in the past but do no longer because of how the Stampin'Up! products coordinate so easily.

1. I chose the designer paper first, and it is called Retro Fresh.

2. There is a piece of cardboard at the back of each stack of designer paper and the colors that coordinate with the paper are listed in ABC order.  So after checking the colors out for this paper, I chose to use Coastal Cabana as an accent color and Baked Brown Sugar as my card base.

3. The Washi tape coordinates with the colors and design of the paper and are conveniently called Retro Fresh.

4. The arrow embossing folder coordinated with the arrows in the paper and gave the card a little extra texture.

4. Finally, I felt the style of the Perfect Pennants stamp set matched the style of the paper.

So, you can see once I found the paper I wanted I could easily coordinate the other components of the card. This card is one of the featured cards in this month's Fill Your Card Box with Female birthday cards class.  Sign up online at my website.  www.sushi.stampinup.net

Fill Your Cardbox with Birthday cards

February classes are being planned already.  This is one of my goals for 2014 planning ahead and it feels good to be accomplishing it. I found this card sample on Pinterest and loved it. It features several new products from the Occasions catalog.  Can you find them?

1. Hexagon Hive Thinlit-Do you see the flower images in the hexagons?

Hint: When using this thinlit it works best if you layer waxed paper between the thinlit and the cardstock you are using.  I also added a shim to the top of the cutting plate for good measure.

2. Watercolor Wonder designer paper-The background is made from one of the designs of this DSP

3. Petite Petals punch-I used another sheet of Watercolor Wonder DSP that featured flowers and punched out a smaller flower from each design.

This card will be featured in 3 of my February classes

An Owl for Your Valentine

Isn't this the cutest card?  I received a card very similar to this as a swap at Leadership and knew right away that I wanted to make it for a Valentine's Day card.  It was a featured card at my Fill Your cardbox with Love class.  And because I love it so much I will be using it as a card in my new classes this month.

1. Monday, January 27th Stampin in the Stacks and the public library here is Jacksonville.

2. Wednesday, January 29th Stampin with the Seniors at the Jacksonville Senior Center.

I think I will make up any extra cards to send to the grandkids for Valentine's Day.  Who would you send this card to?

Designing my own Stamp

Last summer StampinUp came up with a kit called Undefined, to help you design your own stamp.  The lines at convention where you could try the tools out were so long that I was not able to participate. But, at Leadership the lines were small and I made my own stamp.  It really was not hard, and I love the extra carving lines that make the image look primitive.

Everyone that attended my Fill Your cardbox with Love class last week was able to stamp with my homemade stamp.  What image would you carve if you made your own stamp? I am planning a carving class in the future.  Let me know if you are interested in attending..

CASEing a card

I loved this card and wanted to use it in my Fill Your Card Box with Love class.  But, I realized the Expressions Thinlit was no longer available for purchase and I wanted to use something current in its place.
I tried the True Love saying from the Follow My Heart stamp set and the style of the stamp did not seem to fit the rest of the card.

I tried one of the arrows from the Love You More stamp set, it was too plain.

Finally I decided the saying from Delightful Dozen was exactly what I was looking for.

It did not take a lot of extra time, but trying out several sayings until I loved what I saw helped make this card look good to me. I was able to use several items from the Whole Lot of Love special that SU is making available through Monday, January 27th.  Interested in making some of these items your own.  Contact me to place an order, or order from me, Sue Scheets in my oneline store through the link that can be found at the top of this page.

Fill Your Cardbox with Love

Are you ready to think about Valentine's Day?  It is just around the corner.  Tomorrow in my Fill Your Cardbox with Love class we will be creating cards that can be used for Valentine's Day.  This was one of the cards I received at Leadership as a swap.  I changed up a few things, but kept my favorite parts of the card.

1. Black and Red, I love that combination.

2. For the Birds stamp set.  Each image is so cute.  I think this might have to be the next stamp set I use for a set sampler.

3. Hearts framelits.

Who would you send this card to? If you like this card, then please share it.

Valentine's Day is coming soon

Valentine's Day is just about one month away.  Wow! how fast the time is flying by.  This is the last card that I made using the Just Sayin stamp set and matching Word Bubbles framelits.  Through making all these cards I have found how much I enjoy using this set.  Tomorrow I will feature a new set.
I CASEd the card on page 33 of the big catalog and made the following changes.

1. Of course I changed the color scheme, by using the Fresh Prints Designer Series paper stack.

2. I switched the circle into one of the heart framelits.

3. I used an arrow hardware clip instead of the arrow hung up cute clip.

This is a really cute card that I plan to feature in my Fill Your Card box with Love class to be held on the 20th of January.

All Occasion Cards for 2014

If you read my post from yesterday, you know that I am working hard on having my house totally organized ready for the New Year.  This box is full of cards that are ready to go to my friends and family.  Looks like a lot of cards doesn't it!  You might think that it would be hard to keep track of all those cards.  Well, I have a workable system I have used for years that helps me out.

1. I group the cards in several categories.  These are the same categories I use in my Fill Your Card Box classes.

2. When I need a Sympathy card, I just go to the Sympathy tab and find the card I think fits the person I am sending it to.

3. I have a separate box for birthday cards where the tabs indicate what kind of birthday card is behind.  Example, Children, Female, Generic, you get the idea.

This may seem overly simple but I can always put my fingers on a card when I need one.

These cards are now organized for the coming year.  When I see a category is low then I make up some of my extra supplies for a class.

Who do you send cards to and why?

Scrappin Saturday-Using up your DSP

I swapped a card with Gracelyn at the Jubilant Butterflies meeting and decided I wanted to use it for a Thank You card.  What appealed to me most was the tiny strip of designer paper that was at the bottom of the card.  Now who does not have leftover pieces of designer paper that are 1/4 in thick.  I love when I can make use of all the parts of my paper, don't you?
